I have used this firm twice and never had a problem, and I am about to use them a third time. In 2006 I bought a LG Chocolate phone and it came with a free Xbox360 games console worth about £200 at the time. The phone arrived within 24 hours, and the xbox after I sent them my first bill.

Last year I used them again to get a new phone for my partner, this time a Sony Mobile and we got a free HP530 laptop, which is excellent and I am using it now to write this post. This time I did not have to wait for the first bill as I sent proof of address with a utility bill. This time both the phone and the laptop came within 3 days.

My advice, maybe call them first to check they have your preferred mobile and gift in stock. Check about getting the gift right away by supplying a utility bill so they can verify your address. On both occasions I have choosen an 18 month Orange contract. It is a standard Orange contract you would get if you went into a phone shop. The other great things about Orange is they give you FREE broadband if you have a mobile phone with them ! I have choosen to pay £5 a month as this gives unlimited downloads and have been very happy with Orange. Finally Orange do that Orange Wednesdays thing so you can get two Cinema tickets for the price of one.

All in all the buymobilephones.net / Orange contract has been very very good for me and got me two (about to be three !) free gifts and saved my loads of money with the broadband ! (you need a BT phone line to get the free Orange Broadband).

    Regards

    Paul

Sally I read your post more closely after adding my info. I do recall now sending a photocopy of my passport and some other form of ID. I think they require this to verify you are who you say you are as otherwise the company sending out the free gifts may get scammed. As I have said I have used them twice and never had a problem.
  • I do not usually write on forums but I felt that I had to this time because I have had a brilliant service from them.

I took out a contract with Orange through them, got the phone very quickly and then I sent the two forms of ID off, and within a week received the Samsung laptop which I am typing this reply.

I would highly recommemed them and I have to friends and family.
Regarding the free gifts, when you order do ask if the gift is in stock. :j

Oh look, Another brand-new "member" who has joined just to praise a rip-off company.

At least Ofcom are now on the case regarding these cash-back schemes.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • Been a customer with buymobilephones.net for two or three years now. I only registered with this forum to try and set the record straight a little with regards to the so called "scam".
As far as I'm concerned there is no scam. Admittedly they can be a little slow and customer service levels could possibly be improved but is that really any different from millions of legitimate internet companies out there.
My last contract with them I recevied a lump sum cash back after 3 or 4 months, they needed chasing but I received it within 6 weeks of sending back the vouchers.
My current contract I receive cash back every 4 months. Again I just received my first instalment within 6/7 weeks of sending of the voucher.
This may seem like a bit of a long time to wait and it is but it doesn't make it a scam.
My suggestion to those experiencing problems or anyone considering using buymobiles is to always obtain proof of posting (just ask at any post office you don't have to pay extra) and keep on top of it. A bit of dogged emailing at the 4 week point should do the trick. I didn't even have to wast money phoning them and no NONE of my emails were returned!!!!Persistence and patience is all that is required here I think.:T

PS I don't care what anyone says I'm a genuine customer of buymobiles NOT an employee. If OfCom are investigating then I'm sure they will probably find that customers who can be bothered to chase things up instead of just letting things slide get paid. If you don't believe me why not try them for yourself and follow my advice. I've no doubt you will be pleasantly surprised.

the way i see it you should key in the costs of sending every document required via special delivery into whether the cashback is worth it

    To OP:

If it says allow them 56 days, then allow them 56 days. I know it's a long wait, but if you buy ridiculously cheap deals, you're going to get ridiculously cheap service.

    Tight people expect too much.

You've had a free phone, and free bills for a year from this company. They've served you at a massive loss. Just let them build up at least a couple of pound interest on the money they "owe" you first, huh?
  • I ordered a phone from them on 15/10/09. I called before hand to check the free gift was in stock (on hold for 35 mins). Was told that thr samsung n130 laptop was in stock but that could change by the time they receive my 2 forms of id back to process the free gift voucher.
I received an email from them the day after they recieved my claim voucher and id informing me the laptop is out of stock. I have since emailed to ask how long and have been told upto 28 days. I will email once a week until then and then everyday after that. I feel a bit let down and annoyed but if they can deliver then it will be worth waiting for, I will post again with any news. If you are unsure about whether to order from this company then hold fire for a weeks and I will be able to tell you!!
  • Ok. The laptop arrived on Friday 30th October. There customer service is rubish and it takes ages to get through to them but they are quick to reply through emails. I would recommend using this company for the free gifts but I imagine when claiming cash back it would be extremely frustrating. My first phone was faulty but they replaced it with no fuss within 2 days so they are def a reputable company. Hope this helps
  • U did not tell us whether u sent the bills to them via recorded delivery for cashback or not? if recorded, u will always get cashback. i always did.
