  • Your poor little girl BUT your poor friend too

OMG this has made me think twice about looking after my friends children?! Thats scary.

I mean I let my child on the trampoline in the garden while I am in the house because the garden is secure and I watch through the wimdow. When they have friends around they are on and off the trampoline so even though I tell them to close the zip I am sure that doesn't always happen when other children come round.

She was doing you a favour and for you to now consider sueing to be is just awful. I am sure she is feeling absolutely dreadful as it is but to sue her would surely put her and her family under immense pressure.

You must have trusted your friend and truly believe she would do her best to keep your children as safe as you would. Accidents happen and it could just have easily have happened to you.

I wish your daughter a speedy recovery and I wish your friend well with this too.

Just a thought if your DD broke her arm while your parent where babysitting would you sue them?

Perhaps they should sue their parents for negligence for not sueing. Or perhaps kids should start sueing their own parents more for negligence. What a wonderful world we live in

As the OP has now stated she will not read any posts in this thread, prolonging it seems pointless.

However, to correct the impression you are giving by quoting me, I have never advocated "suing the friend".

I have tried to point out that an insurance policy may be in place and that it is almost the parent's duty to see if there is so the possibility of a claim is looked into.

The child will become an adult, and understand these things, and would be frustrated to learn any long term problems could have been compensated but for emotive posts regarding "suing" a friend.

Nature wants the human race to survive. However, it does not depend on us because we are not its only invention.

For all of you with trampolines the only way to lessen accidents is to dig a hole and have the trampoline bed at ground level, I saw this while looking for something else and its official guideline.

I hope the lass is ok and I would never sue someone for doing me a favor but I would consider it for some things like leaving a child alone with an open fire and the child got burnt and such like.

Like everything else in life use commen sense.

Yes my friend should have been watching the children but it was an accident!!!! I"m really stuck..

Even if your friend had been watching the kids like a hawk it would still have happened.

Where would any compensation come from if litigation was entered into ? The woman lives in social housing which will be insured by the landlord, she's a single mother and may have decided that contents insurance is a luxury she can't afford.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

All that we know about "the woman" is that she was previously a childminder.
