Poohbear - I love my dry stone walls, luckily no cows here but children, chickens and cats do knock bits off. I am very slowly working on a mission to get a house leek in every crevice generously aided by my Dad who propogates them for me.
We have an amazing flowering plant in one of the walls that has peach and white striped flowers but we have never been able to propogate any at all. House leeks will look great. I also have thrift and some ferns too.

Sheep, children and chickens knock off the stones too but the cows every summer really damage the back wall. They want to eat my trees and will stretch their necks as long as possible to get the new shoots.

Houseleeks (sempervivum - see Dusty I do know a bit about plants LOL) are supposed to ward off witches... doubt they'll protect you from fluffy mules though :rotfl:

Valli - I love the semps growing in old boots at Tissington if you have seen them? I think that was something to do with witches as well.
Poohbear - we do have some ferns in shadier walls but very little else seems to survive, have tried the obvious rock plants and lost all but one.

HHC - I have got most of my dailies done so the place looks better, but still need to hoover.

Hmm that HHC didn't go as well as i hoped. I'm still only half way through sorting the junk from the top of the freezer:eek:. A lot of it was silly bits & pieces in baskets so fiddly and time consuming:rolleyes:.

I need to cook tea now but while it's cooking i'll finish the rest off.

Since I last posted... I've had lunch, made muesli and talked to my mum. Every time I decide to go outside for a walk it starts raining, and it's proper rain, not just drizzle. I'm beginning to feel trapped in the house!

And like madcatgirl, I have parents arriving at the end of the week - they're arriving on Thursday evening and leaving sometime on Saturday. I expect they'll manage to do a few odd jobs ;) as my dad has left his hedgetrimmer (it's bigger than mine), pruners and pruning saw here :D. I must make sure he knows about the shelves that need putting up... and might also strategically position the ironing board for my mum if it's raining (if it isn't, I'll leave her to do some gardening!). However, it does mean that the house needs to be clean and tidy.

Once the laundry is done I'm going to put some baskets out so that I can gradually sort out my clothes - as some are starting to be a bit big, as soon as they are definitely too big I'm going to make sure they are clean and pack them up. That way I'll be wearing the smaller stuff and should notice if it gets tight. Mind you, if it doesn't stop raining soon progress will definitely slow! Maybe I should plan to go to the gym tomorrow .

I certainly need to find some energy from somewhere! Is it too early to go to bed :o

sniff sniff - things going officially wrong now (well not in the grand scheme of things but deff in the house cleaning stakes) my lovely little boy (through gritted teeth) decided to try and pour his own paints out while I was making dinner and managed to pour them all over his carpet (only bloomin carpet in the whole place) and then 'accidentely' squished mash in between the floor boards (real original floorboards - a real nuisance!)
Guess what I am doing for the next HHC............
