Hi, glad to hear the nappies have come up white again!

To be honest, I wouldn't bother dying the items that are slightly yellow. I'd give them another overnight soak with fresh milton - the water may have got discoloured from the dye that had been bleached out of the other things, and then because they were in the yellow water for a while longer, they may have picked the yellow (sorry, if that doesn't make much sense)

If we get a really cracking hot sunny day, give them a wash and put the on the line - sunshine is a fantastic bleaching agent - you should see my 'two tone' purple T-shirt, which was a casualty of being left out too long in blazing hot sunshine! (although there doesn't seem to be much chance of sunshine at the moment)

They are in the wash right now, but if that doesn't work I'll try some more Milton on them then.

I knew I shouldn;t leave them in two nights, I was just so tired and couldn't face doing them again!

Thanks so much for your help - you have really been a lifesaver.

Hi all. I wonder whether you can help me please. I had a nice new pink sweatshirt, which has been washed with something (I cannot work out yet just what was the offending item!) and now it has turned out a dirty pale pink. I have only worn this once and it cost me a small fortune. It was a treat for my birthday! Is there any way I can restore this to its former glory please? Thanks

    Hi Redlady:hello:

There are a few previous threads along these lines with many suggestions

Help DYE has run in wash

Help dye run in washing machine

Denim dye run onto white top

Dye has run from polka dot dress

    Dye from jeans has run

You should find plenty of suggestions in there. I haven't suffered this myself, as I mainly wear black or dark clothes :o, so can't offer any personal advice

Let us know what works, and I'll merge this with the first link later

    Thanks:A

buy a cheap red coloured towel, cheaper the better, market type quality as they usually are not colourfast and put it in the hottest wash the sweatshirt allows then the dye will run into the sweatshirt.I do this all the time with old jeans and a navy towel and a boil wash to revive the denim.

Really Squiggles? Good tip. Can you use the new coloured towel several times for this? My jeans have lost their just new dark look.

I bung a few pair in the wash at the same time, never tried doing it one at a time seperatly.I have also put in my not so white broadi anglais top which was more a dirty grey and that came out a nice baby blue colour.I do this with off white underwear aswell but the elastic and stitching dont dye but are still wearable.

Not sure if you could get the dark navy jeans to look shop baught navy as as i have not tried it.I dont buy myself jet black jeans or dark navy as i find they knee fade quicker and i dont get value for money.

I wouldnt risk ruining your jeans incase it doesnt dye and goes streaky. All my clothes are old and nothing spoiling if anythings ruined.
