HELP! Dye has run in wash - how to get it white again?

I washed my baby's nappies for the first time today and popped their storage bag in with them - not realising that the cord it ties with was green and the dye has run and made all my nappies and babygrows mint :(

OK, so mint is not the worst colour in the world but I've just sobbed my heart out over them and really want them white again.

Is there any way I can do this? Without using bleach? I need something easy and foolproof cos everything I touch right now goes wrong and I can't cope any more :(

    You sound exhausted!

I have found vanish crystal white to be good for getting out colour runs and keeping bedding and towels white, so that might be worth a try.

I'd give the nappies a few extra rinses though, just to make sure there is no residue left in the nappies that might irritate your baby's skin.

Then give them a good blow on the line in the sunshine - sun is one of the best bleaching agents there is (just wish there was more of it!)

The important thing, though, is to enjoy your baby.

Aw, skintchick (((HUGS))) ! There's some stuff you can get at the supermarket for this but i'm not sure what's it's called now, used to be called something like "Run Away" - it might be called "Run Rescue" now. I'm sure someone who does know what it's called will be along shortly!

You can use colour run when the nappies are dry BTW

Yes. You can get it from the supermarket. You just put a scoop of crystal white in the drawer with your normal wash powder. You might need to use it a couple of times but you should see a definite improvement after one wash.

I use white bedding and towels and I put a scoop in on every wash (not very MSE, I know) but it does keep my whites sparkling.

I tried everything when a similar thing happened to me, the best thing that got all the dye out was soaking overnight in a bowl with milton tablet in, it was gentle enough to get the dye out without actually bleaching it.

Awh - no you haven't messed it up!!! Dont be so hard on yourself.

I can't imagine when s/he is 18 he will say "oh by the way mum, it really messed me up having mint green nappies when I was a baby"

You are obviously a very loving mother who is caring and looking after her baby with every ounce of strength you possess.

You are a wonderful mum. Relax and enjoy your baby - it really does go so quickly.
