Help Please!! I just bought a link for  £60!!

I thought I bought a PS2, but after I paid (the seller requires instant payment), I discovered that this is just for a link... I paid by PayPal, is there any chance that I can get my money back? The seller said no refund will be given!! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Here is the item: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8156830189&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOAB:UK:6

Many thanks for any kind advice!!

I'm so sorry that you are out of pocket this close to Christmas.

I'm not sure I have any good news for you at all though, the auction was for a link, it was quite clear that you were buying alink to a website, it even told you how much more you needed to pay to that website for your chance of a PS2.

Paypal won't be interested as the item you received was the same you purchased.

All I can suggest you do is make a complaint to ebay immediately. Selling links on ebay is against the rules and you might also mention that this link was in the 'console' section rather than the more appropriate 'other services' so it also broke that term and condition. You can go through ebay mediation but frankly I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone successful wih that as it merely appears to be a service that tries to resolve this amicably and doesn't take sides.

Even if Ebay agree that this auction broke terms and conditions it won't get your money back, they are more likely just to warn him not to do it again.

Finally, it might be worth a claim to your credit card company, there is another poster on here who has posted some information about the distance selling act so it might be possible to claim a refund just because you changed your mind. Again though, I'm not sure that is going to work.

    Good luck.

You Do have cause to complain.

The terms he has put say " Upon purchasing this item you will recieve a email with a link to the website where you can get the slimline ps2 for a price lower than the ps2 will come from the website factory sealed upon payment on the website please note no ps2 will be sent from me."

Upon purchasing this item, you will receive a link.

I would argue that you have won the item and are waiting for the link.

Paypal is the way to go. Put a complaint in immediately with paypal.

It's sneaky and not truthful but it just might work.

After all, paypal require proof of delivery using an online trackable system, usually taken to mean recorded or special delivery post or similair. It's up to the seller to prove the item has been delivered, not just sent.

    I like it Soo.

Just whack in a claim to PayPal. I would also suggest you contact Wirm. He might have a few ideas with his link campaign

Many thanks to Soo, robowen, and Hintza !!

I have filed a claim on PayPal, let's wait and see...it says needs to wait 10 days for the seller to reply. Funny that I haven't received the 'link' I bought although I paid at 6:30 this morning. Perhaps the seller is busy doing his Christmas shopping with the money from stupid people like me.... Only got myself to blame for not reading the description carefully....

Oh well, shouldn't let this ruin my Christmas....

Wishing everyone here a Marry Christmas & a great New Year to come!!

He will have to prove he sent "IT" by trackable courier service.

sent him a few tasy e-mails, to let him know what a scumbag he is.

Good luck, I hope you get your money back :)
    Nice to save.
  • Hi,
I feel I have to agree with Robowen. The Item is lsted as slim line PS2, not a link to purchase one elsewhere.
"Upon purchasing this item you will recieve a email with a link to the website where you can get the slimline ps2 for a price lower than the ps2", this read to me that you are buying the PS2, and the link comes later. The poor grammar of the listing leaves a lot to interpretation. I know he claims that the PS2 will not be by him, but that could be read as he is acting as an agent for someone else who will post it. What is meant by "twenty pounds"? No explaination given.
Anyway, sorry I can not offer any constructive advise other than trying to claim back through Paypal as has already be suggested.

  • I hate these scammers as they give all Ebayers a bad name in the end.

Have read posts and has anyone picked up on the sellers postal terms
    Postage Cost: FREE
Services Available: Royal Mail 1st Class Standard
Available to : United Kingdom Only

To me it means that if it is sent by normal mail and not received then you have a claim with Paypal as there will not be any proof of delivery.

A long shot perhaps not quite ethical if you know what I mean but hey was this seller ethical??

Good luck to you in getting your money back.
    I am not always right,

But I am never wrong !!
