I highly doubt one could call it "Horse Bank" now, they seem to have taken this rather charming mare off my Debit Card, and replaced it for some kind of Olympic Symbol..............,bring back Black Beauty The Gazelle says, and fast!!

Toatlly agree with you mate !! My premier debit card just dosn't look the same no more  Also i think they should seriously bring in more services for their premier account holders like barclays

MY breakdown cover (full service, self and wife. any vehicle) costs £35 pa. My travel insuance - full winter sports, full excess waiver, worldwide, spouse and family including independent travel costs £100 per year - so far 165 pa cheaper than the product you are suggesting?
    I think....

But where is your... Gadget cover, Lifestyle Management Service, Interest Free overdraft*, Mobile Phone Insurance, Home Emergency, Extended Warranty, Premier Relationship Manager, Legal Services Helpline, Lifes Rewards Package, £250 cheque guarantee Debit Card*.

You really dont know what benefits he will use, therefore how can you make an assumption that the Premier Life package would indeed be more expensive...

I have really just found out how useful the Premier Life package is....

I transfered from Lloyds to Barclays a couple of months ago and after a few errors made when the accout was set up (and I mean quite a few!!) tonight I have gone absolutly mad! Using the Account Transfer Service, Barclays have managed to return my mortgage payment due to 'no instruction' even though it was them (via the origionator) that set it up, and after having notification that everything was transferred on the 8th July.

The 'Premier' Team have said there is nothing they can do, they might refund any charges incurred, but what about my credit file? 1 missed payment now! So I've gone back to Lloyds (lucky I never got round to closing that account then!!) Swallow my pride, and upgraded the account back to a premier one with them, I have to say Barclays are offically the worst bank for customer service on the planet.

And I have only spoken to my 'relationship manager' once, he was rude pushy salesman, and yes, I did used to work for Barclays, but it really has degraded since then (and it was bad then!)

    Anyway rant over!

I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!
  • Hi

Does anyone know what the difference is between Barclays Premier Life and the old Barclays Premier account. I've had Barclays Premier for around 12 years or so and always paid £10 per month.

Apart from when I've threatened to withdraw from Premier banking and they've given me some credit, I've never had any other real benefits. Sure, there is an overdraft facility, will service and personal banker who usually phones up once a year in an attempt to sell me something. I think there may also be a token life insurance policy too, but that's about it.

I don't recall anyone trying to convince me to change my account to Premier Life, but I also don't see the account I have listed any more, certainly not for a £10 fee.

If anyone can let me know if it's worth upgrading or what the differences are between the legacy Premier account and the new improved one, I would appreciate it.

By the way there seems to be a lot of kudos being afforded to the so called black card? I have a matt black card issued over a year ago with a £250 cheque limit. It has Barclays written in blue and the words Premier and Connect written in kind of a green colour. Is this the same thing you're all referring to?

Anyway some info about old versus new would be useful. I also wonder why Barclays didn't bother to tell me
