I think the origional post should read 'At what size to stop wearing jeans.'

    Size 14 or 16 I think

Personally I don't think size or age matters but how you wear them and what you wear them with ... what I have been advised (by our fashion police children) is that they must be the right length and cover the shoe.

And I remember seeing some fashion guru on telly once saying denim should never touch denim ie if you are wearing jeans then wear a blazer or coat, not a denim jacket as well.

Off now to dust off my bootlegs!

With my 38 years I'm far away from my silver years, but with my parents and their long time partners as an example (dad is 75 partner 53, mum is 60 partner 52) I can state that your age doesn't matter whatever you want to wear. When you feel good in jeans, wear jeans. If you take your own size and indeed don't wear a total denim outfit and it feels good, it is good! Don't be bothered by what some people will say, yhey will talk anyway. For me, I rather see a 60 years young lady in jeans feeling well, than the same lady in a "grandma's"-dress :) P.S.: It's harder to wear what you like if your children still live at home...

You wear what you like. I am not a silver saver yet, but I fully expect grandchildren to be saying ' Nan, what are you wearing?' Which is what my children say now.

Personally I think they're ageless - with the possible exception of baggt, low slung hipsters :-)
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

i'm never going to make it to silver age but there's no age limit to wearing jeans but what type you wear.
If you're going to spend £6 on a pair of dark blue cheap nasty jeans off the market then don't bother wearing them as they do look cheap and nasty. If you spend a few more quid on a decent colour and decent fit jeans then they'll look ok whatever age

Hi ,I have just had a look at the two sites you mentioned and they look really good I shall send off for a catlogue I think.Especially the pennyplain site was interesting.
I to object to being catogorised, I can think of nothing worse than buying one of those Gor-ray type pleated skirts. The last pleated skirt I wore was a kilt when I was a little girel many years ago.Re the low-slung trousers that seem to be popular with the young girls nowadays . It's probably alright if you are maybe a slim 6- 8 but any more and it looks horrible. ,and the fashion of baring your tummy or wearing a skimpy top when 7-8 months pregnant is just not a pretty sight. A pregnant woman looks lovely but not with her belly stuck in out front like a football.
less is more as they say. I have never queued in the post office for my pension either it gets paid straight into the bank,it's far safer that way,I bank online anyway.
Theres plenty of life in the older generation, I go to adult education classes and a part-time Uni course and I am the oldest person there. My fellow students are all in their late teens and early twenties and I get along just fine with them. Once they got over the shock of this old Granny sitting with them they have all been great.:D

    Hi Jackie

I go to Maths classes locally - I achieved the national Level 2 Numeracy last year. This year has been interrupted by surgery in December and 3 months to get mobile again, but next academic year I start on Maths GCSE.

The Level 2 Numeracy qualifies me to get involved in Adult Literacy classes locally.

My DH teaches silver surfers as a volunteer. We're both involved in church activities, both on the church council, I'm the church council secretary. So we have got quite busy lives. I think it's a big mistake to keep harking back to the past all the time, or relying on others to make you 'feel good'.

I've just ordered another skirt and top from Nightingales - feel like it's time for something lighter and more summery. It's the sage-green skirt and co-ordinating top.

I don't think their is an age for jean's. I'm in my 40's but don't wear jean's myself anymore, because I'm now a size 14/16 & personally I think jean's look great on slim, or long legged woman, but not on my figure type.

I'm 52 and I bought a pair of moleskin jeans from Penny Plain last time they had a sale on. They are beautifully cut and really flattering! I've never owned a denim pair, though I have had cotton drill ones fron BHS. They weren't as well cut as the penny plain ones but my daughters assured me they looked good and I know I can trust their judgment!
