What's up with Macs?

anyone who posts on this thread multiple times is most likely a fanboy
But a fanboy of what? Surely by definition it you can only be a fanboy of one thing at a time. But I've not even stated a preference (I have in the past but it's not even listed on this thread). You're still in the false dichotomy mindset I suspect. Would you care to "out" me as exactly what I'm a fanboy of? :rotfl:
(Also take note of the hypocrisy of your post )"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

well i'm a mac fanboy, you are arguing with me thus you can only be a linux or windows one... unless you just like debating for the sake of it, i think that's actually worse as it's just because you have too much free time, not because you actually care. but i'm leaving now. enjoy!!Kavanne

I do care but you've proven my point about fanboys that they're under a false impression that if you're not a fanboy of their particular thing they must be a fanboy of the opposite thing (false dichotomy). Why do I have to be a "fanboy" to merely have preferences or to say I don't think a mac is perfect. And as for actually having a favourite you've actually failed to list mine. Again espousing the narrow view of fanboys. Glad we could have this "grown up" debate (and remember you posted a response to me first).
And since when were you the embodiment of Apple? "you are arguing with me thus you can only be a linux or windows one", just because I disagree with something you say doesn't automatically make it an argument against the mac or an argument for windows/linux (I hadn't even mentioned linux). Jeez.
I like Macs, I've got no problem with Mac users (being one on occasion myself and my colleagues). I just find fanboys offputting. There just unfortunately seem to be more of them or at leat they're more vocal in the Apple world."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

how loooooooong does it take for any windows upgrade to catch on? much longer than mac os ones.
though all these comments are irrelevant because some people like macs and some people like PCs and no one can change their minds!
Yes, but the moot point here is that most people who prefer/like/use Macs have had prior experience of Windows.
Most Windows users have never tried a Mac.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
you can only be a linux or windows one..
Free BSD? Amiga 4.1? Google's contraption?
I have a mac mini and a mac book... and I use my Windows XP Home machine way more than them :rotfl: I feel kinda bad for not using the mac's though
I know Mac's have a more real colour aray but apart from that their good fun for some0 -
im sure none of this helps the OP.
OP - Alot of people will ramble on once you mention anything AGAINST a mac. I have a mac which is partitioned with windows. they are both running fine.
As to your original question about issues with a Mac, there generally aren't many serious ones. The machines are high quality and tend to last an age (mines 4 years and counting, still in 98% good condition).
You will never get a proper reply about why a mac is bad. Think of it as marmite.
I have tried windows on a mac and os x on a pc (dell mini 9) and all combinations if a mac is involved, hardware or software, things tend to speed up.
it sounds like you are using things like word, excel and maybe some emails. get yourself ms office for mac which has entourage - or use apple mail (built in). as for the mouse, buy any cheap pc mouse and it will work with a mac (i use a logitech cordless at my desk!)
I hope this helps as its far apart from the drivel of mac vs pc!
Google Android OS will be my next upgrade!Scrimping and saving!0 -

Some of the posts are helpful, it just the language of the original post which some have found inflammatory. I use both, I sometimes prefer one to the other.
Snippets of the OP: "forced to use", "how user-unfriendly they are", "how annoying they are to work with", "stupid noise of startup", etc.
Interesting language choices for someone claiming to be looking for intelligent debate and opinions.
As I've said, as a long term cross-platform professional, I don't concur with any of these issues. They aren't issues at all, and simply don't exist for home users or professionals either running full Mac businesses (and they are many) or cross platform workers.
The answer is simple: the user / technical dept. with the problems / lack of knowledge needs some education.0 -
