mmmm Troll Food...
People, I only want to know if/how others find Macs user-unfriendly as my colleagues do. I don't particularly want to be lectured about how AVG is a resource hog/how mac mouses work with PCs too... If you don't have anything to contribute, please don't!!!
Even the main tech support guy in the office commented on how 'frustrating' they are.The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

So some people don't like Macs. What more is there to discuss?
My wife works for one of the biggest networking companies in the US. The tech support guys in her office love Macs.
This was doing the rounds in her office a while back:

I wouldn't describe it as my colleagues not 'liking' macs, merely that they aren't particularly suitable/reliable for the such high pressure and the wide variety of jobs. If they worked first time, every time, I'm sure they would love the things.

I find my Mac very friendly in my use at home and the PC's at work are ok but work is different an I work in IT anyway. Can you let me know why your IT guy finds them frustrating, as I know there is a limitation with MS Exchange until Snow Leopard it out.0 -

Well it depends what high pressure variety of jobs you're talking about. No computer, operating system, or program is suitable or appropriate for everything.
Apple are consistently rated however as being among the most reliable computer brands, and Apple consistently have the highest consumer satisfaction ratings. It doesn't take a genius to work out that a lot of people like them.0 -

Then he's poorly educated and unskilled, and I'd sack him. And yes I have the power in our company, I'm IT director, so know just a little of what I'm talking about.
People who blame their tools as "frustrating" are the worst kind of IT people and get our industry a bad name.
We have clients large and small running Macs and others running PCs, all are happy in general, all are productive and highly profitable.0 -

What jobs? (Perhaps high pressure and realtime CTP / DTP processes running most of the large news organisations print output, or high end music production or cinema / video production - all massive Mac territory.)
What doesn't work first time?
I've yet to come across a stability or other serious compatibility issue.
What utter nonsense.0 -
If you give a person, a computer running windows, and said person has never used windows, then they would find it highly unintuitive, and difficult to use.
They might even get confused by having multiple mouse buttons, and have no clue where to start.
Give a different person a mac, and again, they've never used OS X, and you will probably be in the same boat.
However, in my experience, the person in front of the Mac will be able to click on a programme in the dock quicker, and use it, than the windows, start, all programs...
obviously, it's frustrating that things are not hidden away, and things are reasonably simple..
i mean.. why click START, when you want to SHUT DOWN... ?!
