Well, that's the problem you get trying to shoehorn everything the computer can do into one button.0 -
Perhaps the OP could produce some solid evidence as to how/why Macs are 'user-unfriendly'?
If you had just beamed down from Mars and were using a computer for the first time, my bet would be that you would be up and running on a Mac much faster than on a Windows PC. The OS is simply much more intuitive to use. Adapting from years of Windows use of course is a different matter...No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Why should the OP do that? They're not the one making that claim. They're asking for others' opinions on that statement that they're quoting. If anything it's the OP that's already asking for the evidence."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Well in that case, it would be a lot easier asking the people making the claim than asking strangers on the internet.
Asking us why they find something difficult to use is just bizarre.
This might clarify why things are the way they are.0 -

Unless I'm misreading, I'm sure the OP was merely asking for more people's opinions BECAUSE of what he'd been told. And I must have missed where they were asking why they found it difficult to use. And surely by definition he'd only be getting biased info from the co-workers."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Without wanting to reveal my 'real identity', I can say that all of last week I was put into an office where help was needed in general admin tasks. This is not what I normally do, so I was very much the new person in the office (except for the auditers). I worked along side the town clerk and the town centre manager for what can be described as a fairly large and busy place. The guy who I described as the 'tech support guy' is not soely there for tech support, but does have another (quite high up) job.
When the 'tech support guy' got me a keyboard for the mac, he switched it on and some error came up, at which point he commented on how the macs were so frustrating. After quite a while of trying to troubleshoot, I just got on with another job instead of battling with the mac.
Throughout the whole week, I kept getting comments about how the macs were annoying and 'un-user friendly'. This came as quite a surprise after hearing so many members of this forum singing their praises. I was just wondering if anyone else had some opinion on how the macs could be in any way similar to how my colleagues described it...? I didn't particularly want to offend anyone by appearing to insult the mac, so have tried to keep as neutral as I can between the whole Windows-mac debate. Any other opinions would be great to hear. Cheers. The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

In my experience Macs are very straight forward to use but almost "too straight forward". I think if you're doing what the Mac was "designed" for it's fine but I found if you kind of deviate from that development wise etc it's a lot more restrictive. My biggest bugbear to begin with was the mouse. I suppose it's something you just have to get used to. Just like how restrictive I found PC mice having less buttons at first when I started using PCs, and with Macs it's like that again.
Although as for the "error" you got, you can't just one type of computer because one anectodally failed and had a fit. To be honest I quite like macs but the biggest thing that really puts me off isn't technical or fincancial (although they are personal logical considerations), the main "emotive" thing for me is the weird cringy arrogance of Apple and the "fanboy" attitude of some Apple users. Not even the majority but enough to make me want to avoid the entire thing."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

What jobs? (Perhaps high pressure and realtime CTP / DTP processes running most of the large news organisations print output, or high end music production or cinema / video production - all massive Mac territory.)
What doesn't work first time?
I've yet to come across a stability or other serious compatibility issue.
What utter nonsense.
I would also like to point out that the Microsoft advert - which they scrapped was made on a Mac!!!! (well the advertising agency made it on a Mac!!!!!)
Also i have never once had to Force Quit from any application!!!
Now at work, i am always right clicking on the taskbar and opening up task manager!!!!:beer:In My 'Permanant' Pre-Masters Gap Year

I have Macs and PCs, and I tend towards the PC.
The biggest annoyance of the Mac is that you can resize windows from the bottom right corner only.
The user interface is a curious mish-mash of the old finder and something newer.
The balooning icons on the dock is the coolest feature, and my kids like garage band.
The underlying OS of the Mac is UNIX, which is still the best OS even though it is 40 years old. (Windows might have been better if it hadn't tried so hard not to be UNIX!)
But I still go back to Windoze.0
