Tamiflu isn't the only anti viral that will work against the flu, there are other drugs.

Given there is a huge stockpile of the stuff, I don't really see why anyone would want to fork out £120 for something that may or may not be tamiflu (remember, it is illegal to sell drugs in the UK without a prescription) which they will get for £7.50 from the chemist if they actually need it.

Particularly because, from the reports, most people find that the side effects of tamiflu are worse than the symptoms of swine flu.

'Go back to your disease-ridden country!'

British schoolchildren with swine flu were treated like 'dangerous criminals' before being kicked out of France. The 14-year-olds and their teachers were forced to wear surgical masks and shoes while being treated by medics in anti-contamination suits.

They were sworn at by local people and told to 'go home to your disease-ridden country'.

We are one of the worst hit countries in the world due to the amount of overseas travel that we do as a nation.

I thought living on an island would be better.

I was thinking of posting up odds on boarder closures, petrol shortages and food shortages, electricity shortages and curfew but thought that might be too alarmist....
    I think....

If you can find it, there is a monster thread somewhere on survival techniques for any kind of forthcoming apocalypse such as Tesco shutting for a couple of days. Rehydrating by licking condensation off car windows was my particular favourite.

Living on an island, we are ideally placed to withstand epidemics - but you need a govt who can organize a quarantine and we haven't got one !
