I'd just like to say that I must be very lucky with the couple of delivery drivers I have - they are always very polite, very well mannered and always have a smile and a chat with me.

We are always more than satisfied with the service we get and I've phoned up customer services on more than one occasion to compliment them and tell customer services they are a credit to their company. I'm a firm believer in this - too many times drivers get criticised, but no one seems to compliment them anymore.

I agree the way the OP was treated wasn't on, and I feel sorry for the posters here that get grumpy delivery staff - but I say "well done" to tesco drivers that deliver to me:T:T:T

I have never had a single problem with tesco home shopping.

I always select - DO NOT SUBSTITUTE - that way i dint have to send items back and wait for refunds. But all my items are always in stock. If something was OOS it wouldnt be a major issue.

The drivers are fab and very polite, they even carry all the boxes into my kitchen and take all the items out and put them on the side for me as im pregnant and cant bend down to easily.

I never used to shop at tesco i always shopped at asda but they didnt do home delivery where i lived. A few weeks ago they started to deliver to my area so i thought i would switch back to asda, i wish i had never bothered. Missing items, items i didnt order, delivery was over 30 minutes late and i ended up spending about 30% more for a very similar shop to the one i did at tesco's.

So im sticking with tesco's.

Everyone likes to blame the drivers and the pickers here but maybe some of u would like to go do the job for a week and see what pressure one is put under.

Most people are aware that it's actually the shops at fault, not the staff that work there. If staff are failing to deliver a service, it's unlikely to be due to consistant ineptitude, far more likely due to the shop running the service on the minimum amount of staff.

You say:
When there is a shortish of pickers ie: through sickness or holidays then its all hands to do the picking
which is a clear indicator that a shop that's already running at its limit and has no capacity to deal with occasional staff shortages except to crack the whip harder with the inevitable failures that are to be expected.

Stressed staff+stressed customers due to system breakdown will always equal anger, arguments and frustration.

Just remember: Don't take the criticism personally when it's your employers that are at fault.

i have switched to ocado now, they text you beforehand to remind you they are delivering and they tell you then if anything is out of stock - drivers v pleasant too

despite ticking no subs with tescos they sent them and i have had times where a third of my shopping is out of stock - i have had all my yoghurts expiring that night, green potatoes, stale bread, squashed fruit etc. which means a call to cs and then me going shopping negating the advantages of the internet

Yeah, I forgot about the use by dates. My shopping is meant to last a week - how can it when all the fresh stuff expires before then? Mr Asda?

Clearly I just need to suck up the extra expense and go with ocado all the time. Though I have to say, if you buy carefully on ocado (all their special offers each week, and build your shop round them) it's actually no more expensive. espeically now they have the 'essentials' range

I've started shopping with waitrose now and dont find them any more expensive. I'm definately spending less by shopping online, saves those pesky impulse purchases:o

It's because of horror stories like on here I've always stayed well clear of home delivery shopping.
And really, I'm fortunate enough that within ten minutes drive I have Sainsbury's, Tesco, M&S, Asda, Morrisons and Waitrose. So I really don't have to bother.

However, I did try out Ocado the other week after a voucher popped up via here, and you know, they were just FANTASTIC. I couldn't fault them.

My order came to considerably less than Asda/Tesco/anyone else (and it was all Waitrose stuff)

The driver was a star, and he even came early so he could get off to go home (it was 10pm on a Friday night).

No complaints whatsoever.

If you all try mysupermarket.com, pop your groceries in there, it does not subsitute your order for odd variables, if you order it, you get it, simples.

I would not touch Tesco or Asda ordering system with a sh@tty stick given what I've read on here!

You dont get things instore to last a week, how do you expect to get things delivered that last a week. Do Ocado have special Fruit and Vegetables. Special Bread too

Personally I have found Sainsburys the worst for supplying short-dated food, one weekly shop had 13 items all with a use-by of the next day or the day after and they were not listed on the website as short shelf life either! Some of them should have already been reduced for quick sale. Second worst are Tesco, who once delivered me 3 large packs of BBQ drumsticks on a Wednesday night that had a use-by of next day, they were already on the sell-by date, needless to say I had to freeze them. I haven't used Asda for at least a year as they always have too many items out of stock meaning I have to then go to the supermarket anyway. We have never had the same delivery driver more than once, I guess they don't stay in the job long here. Waitrose don't deliver in my area so I can't comment on them.

I agree, I ring up once a fortnight and compliment our Sainsburys driver, he's friendly, chatty, tells allt he best deals, helps carry things in, chats away, explains everything, does the subs first and lets you decide whether or not you want them before bringing in the rest.... he's awesome.

Hell, I did a £300 shop at Christmas and he was fantastic. The only thing that was wrong (!!) was a 3 for 2 gift thing where only 2 had been delivered. They refunded me the full amount for the two I had (£16) and let me keep them.

Everything's packed in a logical order too - all the frozen together, all the drinks together, all the bakery stuff etc. When we did Asda shopping, all the asda stuff was packed wrong - jar of mayo in with a tin of beans or bread packed in with tins on top... daft things like that.

They're amazing :) Cannot fault Sainsburys.
