Oh thanks for the heads up on the Nutri Grain bars, I have ordered 14 boxes of them, bet they don't last long enough for anyone to even notice the date.

If anyone has ordered the VIP nuts they are HOT>>>>>almost needs a Government health warning on the tins......But they are good and the nice tins make them a nice gift.

I ordered the wild mushroom orzo

My husband and I had the mushroom Orzo with salmon and it was nice, if very slightly bland, but this was a good thing as the spicy tomato Orzo almost blew our heads off! Next time it will definitely have a little yoghurt added before serving.

Did anyone buy the ready made bisto gravy?

The little plastic jars that it comes in are going to make fantastic storage jars ofterwards, and they go straight into the micro,,,so brilliant for the freezer, with a good wide neck for poring, with a screw top lid for taking food to work, without frear of it going all over the place.

Mind you I'm not sure I will keep all 48 jars.

Ow and the people that had it last night assured me that it tastes good too.

Received my order this morning, which was a surprise as it says Anyway, did anyone order the Cherry Nutri Grain Bars, 7 boxes of 8 for 99p?

I didn't realise the best before date was Feb 09 but just tried one and it seemed fine.

After saying that I haven't bought them for years but it tasted and looked ok.

Considering they only cost 99p for 56 bars it was worth a gamble.

    ;)
I did- they seem to be going well with my teenagers. I am totally drowning in approved food stuff as it has been so good for me lately. I am still really pleased with the suso. The biovetti chocolate is lovely- just slipped a few into the basket. The peppers are really hot- I think I'll be using them in cooking like jalapenos. I love the ainsley harriot instant rice-it is making me so lazy. The mini rice puiddings atre morrisons, if anyone is interested- I think they are all made byu the same people.

Has anyone else bought the 'Llyod Grossman Risotto rice', 200gm packs from Approved Foods?
It came with no instructions and I don't know what to do with it :undecided

I thought I was buying packs of dried rice that I could do loads with, but this looks like it may (or may not) be already cooked.
Is it mircowaveable? Do I put it in a pan and warm it up?

How am I going to cook it????
Idea's please from anyone who has already tried it
    Thanks

I lifted this from the website when I saw it had no instructions:

    Usage Instructions

1 Cut opn pack and completely break up the product into smaller pieces
    2 Heat a flat-based pan on a stove top
3 Add a medium ladle of hot water (118ml)
4 Heat the liquid to just boiling point
5 Add risotto to the pan
6 Stir the risotto over a high heat for 45 seconds to 1 minute
7 Season with pepper and serve as required

I bought 6 and didn't even heat the one I opened up after trying a taste of it, it tasted awful in my opinion.

My order also had leaking fruit where 3 of the deidentified fruits had been split during transit, so everything had to be dried off!

Haven't had this but there is a thread about it on the Approved Food's own forum. (link on the front page of their website)

Cold gravy does sound a little gross,,,,,I just chucked it in the slow cooker with meat, onions, carrots, and let it do its own thing for a few hours, served it with veg and stuffing, everyone seemed happy.

Oystercatcher,,,,,I got some of the fruit pots, they are all fine, kids have been taking them to school, and I took on to work today.
Have been having a weekly order for the last month,,, no mishaps..

Yeah know what you mean about the ready cooked rice as well,,, my five cases will not last long at this rate,,, thing is at this price and no energy bills even my kitchen !!!!!! kids can cope! This and the half hundred weight of cous cous, they won't starve any time soon.

A friend of mine came to the house the other day just as a delivery came she asked me if I like AH food, I had to laugh
