So what you think then, was thinking of giving our little one some chicken curry and fried rice but husband said not too as might be a little too spicy for him, what do you think...

Both my 2 love curries. Can't remember what age they tried. I love the fact that they've come out to Indian restaurants with us and tried different food.
If baby doesn't like it, he will wrinkle his nose and spit it out;)
  • yep, like mine does :rotfl:

my big baby was too big for his car seat before 6 months and he was ONLY having milk - no food at all at 5 months. so it's not just diet that makes babies too tall for their car seats, some babies are just big.

I KNOW exactly what my baby's food is made out out.

A wide variety of fresh (mainly organic) fruit and vegetables with small amounts of protein such as chicken or beef.

I KNOW this because I make it all for the little chap!

It's cheap as anything to make, takes no time whatsoever and is wholesome and nutritious for him. Furthermore he loves it, but then again he has never had any alternative so thats the way his tastes buds are developing.

You may think me cruel for not providing my 'precious little darling' with all the wonderful opportunities your 'little f*****' is getting, but I can live with that!

WSS. Home cooked food is inifinetly better for children over pre-packaged convienince foods as day-to-day foods. You know whats going into the food and its introducing the baby to the real flavors and textures that your family eat every day. However if the alternative was giving an immature baby gravy and sausages the cans/jars would be far preferable as the sugar/salt levels are arguably too high for adults on some baked bean and sausages let alone a baby.

As for posters dismissing the current weaning guidlelines as rubbish and stating just because they did X, Y and Z with their child and it never did them any harm then its okay to do the same. It doesn't work like that. Examples have been given but the suggestion of giving babies rusk/rice in their bottle to make them sleep is abhorant. Babies wake at night because they are hungry because they have small stomachs not because they are little f***ers who want to cause their parents sleepless nights. When their stomachs are big eough for themt o sleep through without being woken by hungar then they will. They are littel for such a short time do you really begrudge them their basic needs for this?

The guidleines have been developed after lots of recent work, most of which concerns what is termed as the 'virgin gut' which essentially states that anything other than breastmilk (ideally) or formula milk in the first 6months can have long term detrimental effects on the childs health. Whilst some children do develop faster and may require solids earlier it is recommended that it is delayed for as long as possible.

What I don't understand in parenting is why parents seem to be so keen on maing their child move onto the next milestone (be it weaning, walking, moving car seat). Its funny just how many child genius' there are in the world who happened to do all this earlier yet there are very few adults who exhibit these qualities. I'd hazard its over zealous parenting rather than actual developmental progress.

As for the car seat issue, advice has been give. I hope its taken and the LO remains in the correct seat for his age and weight. Somehow I doubt it will happen.

Finally in reference to the OP getting shirty about people commenting on things other than the actual question. Part of posting on an internet forum I'm afraid. If you just wanted answers to a question just post the question, anything else is fair game for comment and criticism. If you can't handle that then moderate your posts to the minimum to get the answers to exact questions. I guess its more about hearing that you're not doing the best for your child rather than anything else.

Good luck with the children, I hope all turns out well for you all.

Well as if you believed we would give our son curry.
If you spent more time thinking about the babys that dont get fed, who are neglected unloved abused etc... instead of the ones that do actually get fed, are much loved and get all the attention they need then maybe this world would be a better place to live in. You should look at your lifes im sure u havent stuck to the book 100% of how to bring up your children the way experts tell you to. If we all stuck to what other people told us to do then we wouldnt have our own lifes. Well i wont be posting on here again maybe my husband might but just take one moment to think of those kids that are unloved etc....
