Can roll onto belly, and hold feet, is eating food, yoghart, chocoloate etc, and think he is older than 5 months.
Was looking at a forward group 0+ car seat for the car, what do you think?
I think it's the head being supported that is critical, as opposed to the legs. Although you obviously want them to be comfortable.
From memory, mine moved at about 6 months. And weighed 22lbs according to the little red book. Eldest was probably slightly less.
They moved to one (5 point harness) that lasted them until they were between 3 & 4, at which point they had the (popular) Graco with the adjustable back (& transforms to booster seat only) which uses the car seat belts as restraints. Youngest still has this and she's 6.
So I would look at the manufacturer weight recommendations and avoid the need for more than 3 car seats in total, if possible.
Eldest has just turned 8 and is now car seat-less most of the time. (She's 140cms if anyone thinks that sounds young, as I did. She did the internet research herself and put forward her case.) I can still remember hubbie putting in her first car seat to come home from the hospital - where does the time go?:o0 -

as for the comments on chocolate and feeding every baby is different and ONLY the mother knows baby best
The mother might know baby best, but doesn't mean that what they are doing is best for baby. That is 2 different things.0 -
Ophie your darling little girl (I have seen pictures, you have me all broody! :happyhear) though tiny is still so very different to a 5 month old - and the OP states his weight and it's not small for age - a friend of mine had her baby prematurely and she has to sneak calories in at every opportunity - scrambled eggs made with cream, topped with cheese etc.
Personally I don't care what anyone else feeds their child, but was confused to see 'giving chocolate' as a sign of supposed maturity.
Same as me, calories at every opportunityOh how I wish I had the same problem
I have to keep away from them, looking at them and my hips increase 3 inches
I agree about the maturity bit, its not as if the baby asked for it... but even though I don't agree with the OP's most recent comment - not an appropriate way of handling things, ignoring the comments you don't like may have been better - I'm not entirely sure why everyone has leapt on the 'chocolate' issue.
Surely as long as you (generic not you in particular Fac) aren't feeding your child this way if you don't agree with it, then comments should be kept to yourself. Unless the original question was baby - 5 months old, 16lbs 6oz which chocolate is the best to feed him/her on?
Everyone seems to have got their knickers in a twist about it, and are now lecturing. How the OP chooses to wean their child is up to them, you wouldn't choose it, I wouldn't choose it. They have.
My friends (who both happen to be obese) have a 3 year old, that I looked after a lot when she was smaller, they feed her on a diet of sweets, crisps etc because they thought and were told that she was small for her age. She as I said before is now 3 and is chunky. They continue feeding her sweets and crap, but that's their choice. Nothing to do with me. It's just sad that I can see the pattern repeating generationally.I saw two shooting stars last nightI wished on them but they were only satellitesIs it wrong to wish on space hardwareI wish, I wish, I wish you'd care0 -
Chocolate mouse and Easter eggs? Poor mite probably can't help bouncing off the walls in the walker!
You sound such a lovely Father...wonder what babe's first word will be? Gimme sweets or f*** off?0 -
Can I just add I have seen the saddest, most poignant thing related to this thread.
I was driving to the doctors following a car being taken on the back of flat bed lorry. The car was completely mangled following what appeared to be a bad accident. Although the car looked in a terrible state, there was a baby seat in the car, that looked like it could be used again once the cover had been put back on.
I think for me that's the reason you buy car seats and mattresses new. You really don't have any idea, unless you know the person you are getting the car seat from really well, what has happened in the seats history. It's amazing they come out of bad accidents looking unscathedI saw two shooting stars last nightI wished on them but they were only satellitesIs it wrong to wish on space hardwareI wish, I wish, I wish you'd care0 -
Never, ever buy a second hand car seat, or take one for free. They can have fractures that cannot be seen with the naked eye.
If money is an issue then ask around - someone you know may have access to Which? and could tell you which budget car seat was rated highly.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

We took advice from health vistor who had witnessed the upset the old seat caused him (baby is very clever for his age) so health vistor recommended this car seat for him as it provides protection to his head and he can now see where he is going

Hi, would prefer a leather lined seat if you know of any, also isofix too, would be nice to fit into Audi A4 Advant.

thanks all, doesnt get chocolate or unloved / wanted easter eggs everyday, every meal time but in reality probably not once this week, maybe last week a little bit which most was thrown onto the floor.
everyone is an expert on this forum, if you all were experts you all would work for social services, and not be at home surfing the internet neglecting the real needs for your children sitting behind you all.
thanks for coming back to read this, but nothing more too see... :rotfl:0 -

This is the car seat I have for my daughter it does clearly state that the baby can be rear facing until about 18mths old or up to 13kgs
have a look at the website, they don't do leather, but they do have a suedey finish on them, the head restraint is adjustable on them and they look good (imo).
