I always told my DD the car would stop if she wasn't buckled in properly.
Make an issue of it when you are on your way to somewhere she wants to go. Stop the car (somewhere safely of course) and tell her firmly the car will not go until her arms are back in her seat safely.
Sometimes big teddies like to go in the car too and put their seatbelts on- show her what happens to Teddy when he is not strapped in.;) At 2yo she might be able to make the connection.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Be careful if you're putting something around the harness to prevent her from undoing it - the emergency services don't like this type of device as it prevents them from getting the child out of the seat quickly in an emergency.
Can you take a few trips with someone sitting beside her in the back of the car to keep an eye on her and discourage her from getting out of the harness? Perhaps a star chart to reward her every time she stays in the harness might help?:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

This is a tactic I have used with my two when younger and also with nieces and nephews and grandchildren*, my grandson used to get out of the seat and even opened the door once:eek:
You have to be really strict on this one it could be life and death.
*strictly speaking step grandchildren LOL;)0 -
yeah i have this same problem with my little one he's been doin it since he was 13-14 months, i do what some of the posters above say, stop the car and tell him off so he knows its 'naughty',he doesnt do it as much now but iv found it helps to keep him occupied with a toy or a book.0

my daughter can get both her arms out of hers too, she is 20 months and now understands that she musnt do it. Every time she did it I would pull the car over, when it was safe to do of course, I would tell her that it was naughty to take her arms out and then clipped her in properly again. It did take a little while for her to understand not to do it but she hasnt done it for a few months now0

Hi
I use Maxi Cosi which looks like the one in the picture?
This might sound silly but I altered the shoulder straps up to the next hole and that worked for me?

You want a Snugsit - it's a velcro fastener. Looks like it's been updated. http://www.privategp.co.uk/snugsit.htm
I've used one. In an emergency, you just pull the side of it and it comes off, but too tricky for a LO to do.0 -
Thats a wicked idea, but sounds like they arent getting anymore in as it says "Thanks to all their customers over the years" and that their stock is exhausted?

Great Little Trading Company used to sell them. I have seen them on ebay recently as I was going to sell our old one but there were a few about.0

Thank you all- She does realise that it is very naughty to do it but she has hit the terrible two's defiance stage big time
I'm going to buy something as suggested by suekjy and Ishtar because at the moment I think that is the only thing that is going to work!
