Hi, we bought a Mamas and Papas Pilko Pramette travel system including the clip base for the car. We were told at the time we bought that it would go in a CMAX which we have subsequently bought and now they are telling us it wont fit!

Has anybody got a CMAX and if so, can you advise which is a good car seat to fit in it? I would love one of the clip in systems!

    Thanks in advance!

    Felicity!
  • Not usre exactly but Britax baby seats are generally very good and you can go to the Britax website and check a amodel should fit in your car before you buy the seat.

Car seats have changed alot since I last bought a baby seat so I don't know about the clip in seat.

I think the CMAX has ISOFIX fitting points for car seats? If that's the case you can get an infant carrier with a base that attaches to these points, then the car seat attaches on top, like the M&P one you currently have.
I think the Britax Cosy Tot or the Maxi Cosi Isofix seats might be worth a try? I think both of those seats will fit in a car without the base as well, just using the seat belt, which is useful if you are travelling in another vehicle withoiut the ISOFIX points (providing it fits that way, of course!)
Have a look in Mothercare and see what they have, and they will fit them in your car and see if they are suitable.

Hi, Thanks for both of your replies.

I was really hoping to have a travel system so the seat clips into the car and then clips into the buggy.

I dont think the Maxicosi is part of a travel system although I understand it can clip into the Quinny, but I have read bad reviews on this site about the Quinny (not reclining, not being able to put a bag on it).

In hindsight, I am not sure that I got the best service from Mamas and Papas and might go back and double check to see why the Pilko system will not fit into the car. I was hoping some people here might have said they use that combo.

    Oh well!!! Thanks anyway.
  • We had the m&p primo viaggio seat (not sure what seat you get with the pliko) with base in our normal focus, fitted fine, admittedly not a cmax - is the cmax seat some weird shape or something? Have you tried fitting it yourself to see what it's like secure wise? Do you think it fits ok? I know that in our focus, the belt was only just long enough to go round the back of the seat, and was sometimes a struggle to do if the belt locked as you were pulling - there was a knack to it. So perhaps it is similar with the cmax. If you weren't overly happy with the reliability of the advice you got from m&p, I would be tempted to make my own decision. Obviously not advocating putting your baby at risk, but I would imagine you would have a good idea of whether or not the seat feels rock solid - there shouldn't be any movement whatsoever.

I've often found that the M&P seat fits cars, but the combination of the Sure Fix base and the angle of the car seat makes the baby seat sit at a very high angle. So although the seat fits your car (as M&P would say), it might not actually be suitable, as the seat is sitting at a very high angle, and would tilt a baby's head forward.
Might be best to ask someone independent to check the seat in your CMAX? Does your local council's Road Safety dept check child car seats? You can look for a checking service on the RoSPA website http://www.childcarseats.org.uk/ (under the Search for Local Help and Advice section)

As the title says really- my 2 yo daughter can get both of her arms out of the car seat restraints, even though she is buckled in as tight as possible. She doesn't actually get out of the seat, just the top half meaning she can lean right forward. There is no way the straps can be made tighter, I can just about get my fingers behind them when they are done up. God knows how my little Houdini does it

We have a Mothercare Endeavour car seat with a 5 point harness like this:

Has anyone else had this problem? What car seat did you get in the end, or how did you stop your child from twisting out of the seat?

    Thank you :o

  • My Grandson is thirteen months old and was doing the same, he is now in a britax car seat, which is much safer. He could lean over and and play with the door handle luckily the child safety lock was on, my heart was in my mouth when driving with him. Children of today are very advanced.

I can't remember where I saw it - could have been Kiddicare, but I'm pretty sure there's a strap you can buy that joins the two seatbelt straps together (if you see what I mean!). It doesn't interfere with the safety at all, just prevents little arms coming though the middle and wriggling free.

I'll have a look about and see if I can find it.

Edit: Found it - wasn't Kiddicare, but PHP...link here
