It depends on how tall and heavy your nearly 4 year old is. I have a 5 1/2 year old who is only 110cm tall and weighs 16kg so she is still able to fit into a BRITAX EVOLVA using a 5 point harness. She has about another 5cm growth room before she hits the top of the scale for the 5 point harness and another 2kg before she reaches the advised limit to switch her to the adult seat belt mode using this Evolva seat.

You could always buy a JANE INDY or a BRITAX EVOLVA 2-3 ISOFIX where the seat fixes using isofix fittings but the child is restrained with an adult belt.

I believe the Britax Elite car seat had a 5 point harness and was suitable for children up to 25kg in weight? It's an 'old' seat though, replaced by the Evolva, but you might be able to get one from Halfords, or try ringing Britax.

i currently drive a toyota corolla which i love but with 2 carseats in the back it means the middle seat is only about 10" wide and when my mum is in the front and i have the childrens dad with me he has to squeeze in that gap. which i wouldnt have a problem with causing him discomfort and pain but i cant see out the back window and the kids dont like it either lol.

so, what car do you drive and when you have carseats in the back do you still have a middle seat? my mum keeps telling me i need to get a bigger car which i would like to do but i really dont want a people carrier and it seems they are the only ones with 3 proper seats in the back.. does anyone know of any other car that has 3 seats?

(sorry if posted on wrong board)
It only seems kinky the first time.. :A

Citroen Picasso? Nice to drive as well, and good visibility because it's a bit higher up

Hi, i have a Galaxy and would have been lost with out it! (2 kids + 3 step kids!)
Now they are growing up eldest 2 step dd's dont come that often, but the youngest one does.
I was thinking of downsizing, but i would def miss the space. Not only is it pratical for holding kids + their friends (safely), Hubby and ds have midi dirt bikes and we can fit both of these in the back (taking out all rear seats) so dh and ds can go off.

If i did downsiize i would go for a Senic as there is still lots of space. (sis had one and could comfortably get 2 car seats and an adult in the back.)

We have a Honda FRV and its fab it has 3 seats in the front and 3 in the back alll full sized so we have no problems getting all our car seats in ;)

Loads of room in the boots for our huge pram too :) I really think the choice has improved dramatically in the last few years and comes down to personal choice. Take a day to go around showrooms to see what you prefer.

The Xsara people carrier is ideal for the room in the back - is it Citroen? MIL has one.

Another vote for the Citroen Xsara Picasso. Mine has three full (adult) size removable seats in the back. Should be plenty big enough for three proper car seats, although I haven't tried recently as my youngest is 10. :D

You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

Oi you lot - please :heart:GIVE BLOOD  - you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.

One car that often gets overlooked is a Mercedes B Class.

Currently on 5.9% finance from your local dealer and a dealer contribution if you're lookin to buy new..

It's a solid car, packed with all the usual spec you would expect and i can get my two kids car seats in the back, and an adult to sit in the middle.
I've had mine 18 months and absolutely love it. The other option that has been mentioned is the Honda FRV. Very clever car with 3+3 option.
