Oh Minerva how frustrating what are we supposed to do? I wondered about the seatbelt thing maybe being a danger too. I'll try and check a few thing's out and will let you know how I get on.Booo!!!0

This isn't an isofix seat but what about something like the recaro young sport? It's one my friend has and seems pretty good.

That one should be OK. As it's Recaro you will need a needle and thread to stitch the buckle protector to the strap as it's always coming off. It's a job we meant to do, didn't and now the protector has gone!0

Been trying to find out if there is a product on sale that stops your toddler from unlocking their car seat safety straps? as mine keeps doing this and as i'm the only adult in the car with him it scares the living daylights out of me as i can't keep an eye on him @ all times i don't always realize that he's done it til he's trying to climb into the front seat.
thought i'd ask mse'ers as more minds work better, tho as i'm due with number 2 and my mind has taken a hike lol
hope someone can help me

Hi again everyone, I think I may have found one! Just keep my fingers crossed now that it will fit my car
It's a Recaro Start and was recommended to me by the In Car Safety Centre in Milton Keynes - I wish I lived near them as they have been really helpful: http://www.incarsafetycentre.co.uk/shop/childrens_re_01_1.html
Which advised against buying it for younger children though as it only uses an adult seatbelt. However everything on the seat adjusts so if it will fit my car then it should fit my daughter! I've contacted Recaro but the seat hasn't been tested on the Renault Modus so even they don't know if it's going to fit.
I've ordered it from Halfords as they will fit it for me and make sure it fits properly. It's out of stock in my local store though so I'm going to have to wait a while for it to come. Let me know how you get on with your Recaro car seat Violetta!0 -
is it a 4 point harness or the buckle in the car?
found this for if its the actual car seat buckle.

and this one on ebay
another idea is to phone your local physiotherapy or occupational therapy center and ask them for advice, I'm sure DS2's physio had mentioned things like this. Children with Autism and ADHD are very bad for it and I know there are devices out there to help, juts no idea where, sorry!0 -
thank you for your reply tiamai_d but i'm looking for one that fits the 5 point harness as in the same that are used on pushchairs.1st son born 11/02/05 2nd son born 09/01/08

Thought so. Still, get the number for your local physio/OT department, and ask them if they know of a device to stop them getting into it. They should do as they recommend car seats with 5 point (not 4 point like I said) harnesses and a guard to stop children unbuckling on several websites.
Luckily, the seat I have is hard enough for me to undo, let alone sodapop!
good luck!0 -
how old is the toddler?
my eldest went through a phase of doing this. I can't remember exactly how old he was at the time, but he could understand us totally, but not yet make full sentances.
Anyway, we decided to tell him that the car does not work when anyone is unstrapped. If he undid his straps, I would stop the car. (Much easier to do this when pootling around locally, than on the motorway!) And if the car didn't work, he couldn't go to his friend's/swimming/playgroup etc.
Now he's desperate to strap himself in as fast as possible!0
