The isofix makes the seat part of the car as it attaches to the body of the vehicle. It won't move either in an accident or if it is left without a child in it. Then the seatbelt is only holding the child in, not the seat too.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

Please be careful with ISOFIX seats not all seats are compatible with all cars due to the different seat heights and cushioning in cars it may be worse having an ISOFIX seat over one you strap in
http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/child_safety/safety_standards.html
The car seat cushion (height, angle, stiffness) is not standardised which means that seats using two-point ISOFIX have to be tested and approved for use in specific car models (the seat is tested in the specific car rather than on a universal test sled).
Failure to agree Universal ISOFIX standards is holding back and no doubt frustrating the child seat industry. Britax has just introduced the Duo ISOFIX seat which to its great credit has been tested and approved for use in more than 80 car models but this has been a huge and expensive test and approval programme. With Universal ISOFIX standards only one test would be required

The new isofix ones are so new, (23 and jane) dont think they are even in the shops yet.
I always found that contacting your Road Safety department and asking them to recommend a reputable independant supplier who gives advice to be the best way. The website childcarseats given in post #4 lists your local councils and whether they give advice, however mine for example recommends a local dealer who are experts, and yours may do the same. The large companies like Mothercare just dont deal with the same range of products, and in any case get some of their carseats eg Britax manufactured under their name anyway.
It is confusing though, when you consider that a booster cushion,a booster cushion with a back attached and these isofix seats all are the same european safety standard R44- yet they look totally different0 -
mothercare stocks the new britax one and it can be found online cheaper. The Britax fitfinder will tell you if a car seat is suitable for your car. It is ALWAYS dangerous to use a seat not compatible with your car, whether isofix or seatbelt is used.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

I have just spoken to Britax who have told me that the Evolva 2-3 is ISOFIT and not ISOFIX, this is because although it does fit into the ISOFIX mountings in your car,the child is secured with the adult seat belt. At the mo no seats in stage 2-3 are ISOFIX as they need to be holding child in with harness.
Britax web site is showing Britax Hi-liner as discontinued- asked re this the Evolva 2-3 is the new name and the seat cover is a bit differant- seems to cover more of seat with more padding.
The Hi-liner/Evolva 2-3 has a back that can be pulled up- allowing a child to stay in the seat with the back on until 11 or 135cm. This is also `Which` best buy, my 5 and 7 year old will be sitting in one next week-when I get my car.April Grocery challange £175
Spent week 1 £29.90
week 2 £62.64, TOTAL £92.540 -
Another vote here for the Jane Indy Team PLUS (the PLUS bit is very important). The bases on this seat attaches to the car frame via the Isofix fittings and the body of the seat adjusts for growth and height - its a great piece of kit. Also, when you only need to use the booster section, you can disconnect the back and have an ISOFIX connected booster seat.
However, like all child car seats, you MUST try it in your car (or each car if you have several). T'other thing is that Jane have some really attractive seat colours in their range.
Price wise its about £95.000 -
code-a-holic wrote:I agree with finc - maxi cosi xp are brilliant. Fits in every car we have had....not tried them in a golf though!
But not a VW Polo Estate or a Citroen Xsara both 2001 as I've tried them and had to pay the return postage as I bought them on-line!!!
Ended up with a Britax Renaissance which is very good and solid. Older boy has a concord lift (pretty good) - and got good crash test results as did the the Maxi Cosi Rodi XP which is in the other car but seems much more solid and safe (bit of a pig to fit - don't buy it if you are going to switch it from one car to another regularly)
Just had a look for best price on the Rodi out of curiousity -

Which adds 1000 points to the automatic 500 for spending £50+ on babystuff and also seems to be knocking another 10% (until 26th Feb) off as my basket is showing £68.84 delivered and 1500 points - mine cost me £72 and I thought I'd got a bargain. All the World is a Stage; and I'm going through a difficult one at the moment!0 -
Hi, brand new here after a lot of lurking!
Due to having twins, and the last car seat I had being rubbish, I am having to buy two second stage car seats. I have decided to get maxi-cosi priori xps which retail at £135. The cheapest I've found them is at Kiddicare, but I want to get them elsewhere. Does anyone know of a good deal on these, or anywhere where I can get a deal for buying two?
Many thanks for any help, Ness.0 -
I've got the Maxi Cosi XP seat, just replaced it with another for my second child.
i've been looking around too, and yes, £135 is the cheapest, but its worth looking around your smaller individual baby shops, the 2 nearest to me had them in at £99 each, so I guess for 2 seats that a £70 saving :T
just have a look in the Yellow Pages or something, otherwise you could wait for Halford to have a mini sale, which is where I got my 1st one from0 -
I know that kiddicare give slight discounts if you buy more than 1. Don't forget to use quidco first if you do decide to use kiddicare for cashback of 3.5%.
Take a look at this link
http://www.kiddicare.com/invt/carmcprispsbjorn?No=0&N=365+58
at the multiple buy savings bit. Don't know of anywhere else that does deals for buying multiples (doesn't mean to say there isn't anywhere though).
