    A fuel fact.

Buying fuel from supermarkets is a false economy. I ran my diesel Astra on supermarket fuel for 2 months and averaged 47.8 mpg, I then ran it for 3 months on branded fuel (in this case, Shell), and averaged 56.2 mpg. Thats about a 12% difference. So to be a cheaper alternative, the supermarket fuels need to be at least 13p/litre cheaper.
Do you work for Shell?, I have used all types of derv, and found no difference whatsoever:D
I must, I must, get my post average up to 1 a day!! :D

I have to say I notice a difference- as I was sad enough to record how many miles to a tank- I did it when I felt I ran a couple of tanks through too quickly and I wondered if there was a problem with the car. I tend to find that there is a small drop of around 2mpg in particular with Tesco fuel- not as much difference at Morrisons, but it isn't exactly a scientific test, just experience. Perhaps the additives do add a bit to the economy, or perhaps Tesco have more Bio-Diesel mix I don't know! I have to say I found Shell V-Power to give me the best economy but I can't be paying 106.9p over 99.9p for the increase!

In the end I go to Shell now as it matches Morrisons across the street so a 1p drop to 99.9p plus points plus 3% cashback. Yippee!

...The retailer said there was 'little justification' to charge more than the £1 widely seen at the pumps at present...

Looks like they found that justification after all :(
