    Tesco here (Carlisle) have unleaded and desel both at 99.9p from this evening.

    It's been a long time since diesel was as cheap as unleaded.

    IMHO the Toyota Pious simply moves the problem elsewhere. It doesn't solve the real fuel issue...

    You're right there. I do wish the press would stop banging on about electric or hydrogen powered cars being clean - they're not. Hydrogen is produced ( usually ) by electrolysing water, so in both options electricity is used. Where is the electricity produced ? Coal, oil or gas fired power stations ( or nuclear, which is it's own debate ). So all they do is take the pollution out of the towns, and move it to the power stations. Add to that the mechanical losses involved in converting one form of energy to another, and they're probably worse than a standard petrol or diesel powered car.

    The only way they will be truly "clean" is when the electricity used to derive the source fuel is generated by solar, wind, wave power or whatever.

    How big would the wind turbine have to be, on the roof of my car, to power it without fuel or electricity??? ;):D
