Not sure what additional advice I can offer -you have already had lots of suggestions for ways to increase your income.
But I would like to suggest that if you haven't already done so you need to stop spending more money on your cards. Clothes look like they are particularly a problem - additions, kays, new look, dorothy perkins. Cut up your cards or throw away your catalogues- you can't afford to spend on these things anymore. Where is the staff card for? Will you be leaving your job once you start uni and if so do you have to repay the card when you leave?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
T'is the wedding season now - could you try hotels, pubs, golf clubs, country clubs and see if they want extra staff? I did bar work, waitressing etc during my uni breaks (millions of years ago!), long hours, hard work, but fun and I went back to the same places during my holidays so that made it even better!Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Littlepinkstars has said unfortunately her rent is non negotiable, as her mum's financial situation is worse than her own.
Mobile i'd agree with, OP have you tried asking if you can move down to a cheaper plan?
Sorry you're right. Several replies added since I started typing that lolStarting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

Thanks for the advice everyone, just to clear up some points some people have made....
The staff card is my old discount card from when i worked in Topshop, the only wayto get your staff discount was to put on a staff store card, and i am still trying to pay it off.
I try not to use any of the store cards/catalogues at all. But i can only manage minimum payment on them every month, so they don't seem to go down at all! I can't cut them up, cause i go into the shop and hand the card over with my minimum payment everymonth, otherwise its an 0870 number i need to phone to make the payment, and i am not allowed to use the house phone, and don't want my mobile bill any higher.
Thanks for the tips on the temp agency, i will google them and see if there are any near me, as i cannot afford bus fare into the city centre to find one.
Also babysitting sound good, but unfortunalty i dont know anyone with young kids, all the kids that live near me are the same age as my brother, 13 and can be left alone now. Same with my mums friends kids, all pretty much grown up now. Dog walking is a big no, i am terrified of dogs, infact terrified of most animals!
As for my phone contract, i have managed to get my bill down to about £35 a month, sometimes its more, sometimes less. I was getting bills for about £80+ about 4 months ago, so i have managed to put a stop to that. I have a blackberry, looking back now i really don't need it, but at the time i had to have it, i was due an upgrade when the pink one just came out. I am on a £20 a month contract now, (i think i was originally on a £40 a month one) i got 200mins and 200texts, which isn't enough as i do go over the limit and thats why my bill as always higher. Plus they add on £3 a month for not paying by direct debit, which i can't as i never know how much my bill will be, or if i will be able to pay it or not that month. Meaning the money would be taken out my bank and leave me with my overdraft over its limit, meaning more charges!! My contract is up in September though.
I hope this all makes sence, i just really don't know what to do anymore.
I've applied for a lot of call center and cleaning jobs this morning through the job centre online. Fingers crossed, i'd take anything at the moment!0 -
applied for a job at the local chippy tonight...so we'll see0

There are loads of temping agencies in Glasgow, but they are in the city centre. I would spend the bus fare and go to all of them in 1 day. I was made redundant suddenly once on the Friday, I got myself into town first thing on the Monday and I had a new job by the Wednesday. Spring do work at the SECC, the races in Ayr (they provide transport to and from the city centre) and loads of other places.
Good luck with the chippy job too - you will get something!0 -
How about doing a car boot sale with your mum? Sell anything you don't need or haven't worn for a year.0

thanks for the ideas. I went on the Spring website, but they don't have any jobs in Glasgow just now.
I've been thinking about doing a car boot sale with my mum, but she just got a brand new car so i'm not sure if she would be up for it. Plus it costs £15 for the space, and i don't have £15 to shell out first.
It also means having to get up at like 4am!!! I don't usually go to bed till 4am, so i dunno how that will work out0 -
When you start university you will have to get to bed at a reasonable time in order to be up for lectures at 9am, so you can start now and get some practice! If you know you are going to have a day making a bit of cash then that is your motivation isn't it? keep an eye out in local papers for car boot sales - some will be £10 a space or maybe less. Or see if you can organise something between friends - what they call a garage sale maybe? One life - your life - live it!0

My experience with agencies in the last dire recession was that you got a job if you pestered.
get into town and sign up with as many agencies as possible. Ring them all or go in again on Wednesday, then Thursday. By Friday, someone will be glad to give you a job for the next week just to see the back of you. And then keep at it.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
