I am Australian in London and we don't have car boot sales back home, so I have no idea how to go about finding them. Where do they advertise? When are they held? Do they ever happen in London? I'd like to take a look but have no idea how to locate one. Please help.

Here is a list of boot sales in london:

Don't worry when you see cars £9 vans £11, that is for people selling, if you are buying the most it will cost to get in is like 50p, a lot are free though, give it a go when you get back, I have picked up some great books.

It's kind of one of those threats that you are never told the end of...like the boogey man will get you if you step on the lines on the pavement.

Actually with post as bad as it is I would think that most buyers would be happy to see their item within a week, I certainly don't even start watching the post for a good few days after I buy on Amazon.

Thanks Soo, I sold one just before the bank holiday and didn't manage to get to a post office. So it will be going tomorrow. Hopefully they'll be ok with that, as a treat I'll send it 1st class I think :) Have another few to go with it, one for each day over the bank holiday!!! Must have been people stuck with their out laws ;)

The second thing is that I listed a hardcover book too cheaply, and more than half of what I got from Amazon went on postage. Mine was the best condition and I matched to lowest price which was only 'average'. Also mine was a hardback whereas I had to list it against the paperback version. I know it's been said before but WEIGH your books before you calculate price!

I dont understand why you would list a better condition book for the same price as an average book?
Personally I think list as the same price as the condition as yours then it doesnt draw attention to a seller who doesnt check there listing every day,and you are getting the best price for your book.

    Just my advise.

    Thanks Kat.

Angela, I bought the book last year from one of those book clubs that come around to your workplace and sell items for about 25% of the RRP. I paid about £5 for it (RRP £20). I guess I was wrong about how the system works; I figured they must be sold so cheap because nobody wants them. In fact, I didn't even list this book for about six weeks after I started on Amazon because I was sure nobody would want it (it's a book about nature walks in Britain). I listed it the cheapest price because I bought it new for less than half that and I just wanted to get rid of it.

In retrospect I should have listed it higher, but I honestly didn't think it would sell at any price.

I've just sold a box set on amazon for £145!!! I'm really pleased but now I need a quick bit of advice. It weighs 3kg. Looking at royal mail's pricing made easy it'll cost £11.37 for recorded (1st class only for that weight) or £7.70 for a standard parcel. Which shall I go for?

Send it special delivery, as using normal/recorded you're only covered up to £32 if it goes missing
