Ahh, see I didn't get that email matt. Have emailed them the question so we'll see!

This is what happened to me. Have you had any DVD trials with Tesco or Screenselect before? They are both powered by video island. I called up, as I had with Tesco, and they told me that this is why my card had not been verified and I couldn't do the free trial boo hoo!
    Money money money!

I signed up 2 weeks ago but they failed to verify my credit card details, so I cancelled it immediately. Just got my £20 voucher today so I'm quite pleased. I would have liked to have got the free rentals as well but you can't have everything I suppose. I don't know why they couldn't verify my card details though, this is the first time this has happened in years of buying things on line.

Used 3 of my rentals before cancelling. Emailed dvd.co.uk about the wherabouts of my voucher but was told it can take up to 28 days for screenselect to send them my details, it's been 3 weeks and nothing..

I tried to sign up with this offer on 13/04, then was told we couldn't have free trial as we'd had it at this address before.

I emailed them asking to clarify my position, they replied on 21/04 with this message:
"Thank you for your interest in our service. According to our records a free
trial account has already been used at your address with one of the services
powered by Video Island Entertainment Ltd. According to our terms and conditions only one free trial is allowed per household so we cannot authorise a second free trial at this time.

We can allow a second account if it is paid for immediately. Please let us know how you wish to proceed if we do not hear from you within 3 days we will not proceed with your second application"

I've just checked my bank a/c online - and they've taken £14.99 from my account! This despite my account showing on their site as never having received any dvds, and their email stating quite specifically that they would not proceed with my application unless I instructed them otherwise (which I did not).

    I'm absolutely fuming!

And to add insult to injury, I never received the £20 dvd.co.uk voucher either.
some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it :)

Worked a treat for me. Joined, got voucher next day, got 2 DVD's, returned them, bought a PC game worth £20 for £15 plus another for £4.99 (free postage) cancelled membership and received email today confirming and saying sorry to lose your custom ! Intend to sell game for about £15 on ebay (after I finish it of course !) and other DVD for £4. Good result. Thanks OP

I cancelled my ScreenSelect Account last week after returning both the DVDs. My online account still says "Next Payment: May 10, 2006". Do they still debit my account?. Or should I call them to cancel the account?.

This is what is mentioned in My Account.

I'd call them to double check that your cancellation has been activated. I think when I cancelled it then said that somewhere in the 'my account' details. Did you get any email confirmation of your cancelling? Best to give them a ring and be sure I think.

    Good luck :D
