No. None at all. Life devoted to family, but how could I ever invite people here? Mood may be ok in morning then darkness in afternoon.

I walk in from the garden and to this day, marvel at our lovely home. I love it, which is why I'm not willing to leave it.

What I want, now I no longer have Jaffa, is to find a social life. Not old fogies though, young vibrant people to laugh with. I loved washing up in a kitchen with young chefs. They were a great laugh.
People of my age are ancient. Hysterectomies being their favourite subject.

People of 'your age' are not all ancient at all........I take exception to that remark! I've not had a hysterectomy, in fact I'm in perfect health. I hate Tom Jones and love the likes of Coldplay, Take That, Stereophonics etc (a little out of date perhaps but not to the tune of 40 years).

If you take off the blinkers, you will see that you're not the only 'trendy oldie' out there. You need a like-minded friend, but you won't find one by insulting the rest of your age group. My friend and I retired from work and started having amazing holidays together (we both have husbands who don't like travel). We've done New York 3 times, San Francisco, Niagara Falls, flown over the Grand Canyon etc etc.

I worked with a woman who chose to stay with her cheating husband because she loved her home, her large wardrobe of designer clothes etc. She said she couldn't maintain her lifestyle without the money he brought in. She made the choice, as it seems you have done.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

You mentioned you lost your beloved dog, and may not feel ready to own another, but if you enjoy the company of dogs and would like to get out doing stuff, look up The Cinnamon Trust. They have a network of volunteers who provide care for dogs who's owners are ill or elderly, anything from foster homes for certain periods to more informal arrangements where you say what days, times and location suits you and can help by walking the dog for them. It's lovely to get out walking a dog and also knowing you are helping out the owner too. Good way to potentially meet new people as well :)
Proud to be a moneysaver :)
