He should have been paying approx 110 per month per child - his current payments are 221 per month.
Shoot me down in flames but i can't reinstate the arrears i dont think - i confirmed that he lived abroad from sept 2000 and they said that would write off the arrears as he was out of the jurisdiction.
(never mind he went to avoid actually paying! he even admitted that to ds recently!)
i don't actually care about the money - never thought i would see any let alone the current he still has to pay as kids are 18 and nearly 16.
i cancelled the arrears because after him being out of my life (he still saw kids twice a year), when the CSA popped up after all this time i found him entering my head space again and to be frank i just wish he would go away!
  • :) 221 per month for 2 kids its not too much to ask. At one time we were paying 600 a month for 1 and that was about 4 or 5 years ago:eek: She only gets less now because we have less now.

Still your the one who has to live with it. The kids are older and your cm time is coming to a close now anyway. I cant say that I wouldnt just leave it myself for the peace and quiet to be honest. And you cant miss what you never had. At least you wont suffer when the kids are adults because you are down a couple of hundred pounds a month. There are some who get strapped for cash when their cm comes to an end because the kids cant earn that kind of money.

I believe that he would only become not liable for his time abroad if he had informed the CSA of his move abroad at the time, if this is not the case, the maintenance liability still stands, and therefore he will have accrued arrears.

So, question is, did he contact CSA and tell them in 2000 that he was moving abroad? If not arrears still stand

The Commission cant write off the arrears at all under any circumstance even if he is living abroard. In fact the Commission has new powers for this very occurance

CMAC is correct. The arrears can only be suspended not written off, unless you have said that he has paid you the money direct, in which case it would have been adjusted as a direct payment.

Arrears can be suspended when it's not possible to pursue payment - as in the other party being out of jurisdiction. They can be reinstated if required.

I love the way it always turns into 'I'm not giving him/her any of MY money' as if you never spend the money on the children.

Exactly!! I think this is what it boils down too alot of the time.. the NRP feels he is PAYING HIS EX instead of PROVIDING FOR HIS CHILDREN!!

I see, so all those years, the children starved, had no clothes, lived on the streets etc, etc. The parent with care provided all this with no help from the father, and had to contribute his share as well as her own. As he paid up in the end, she no longer has to pay for those things, she has had to have gone without all those years and so should not feel guilty about treating herself now.

AND... who is viewed the worst here.... the father who shamelessy never provided a penny to care or clothe his children for all these years or the mother who finally has some extra money in her purse to treat herself after all these years?

What happened to you to make you such a woman-hater? (rhetorical question, don't actually care).

    Like yourself?
Lets be honest. This section of the forums is full of scorned women that profess to be amazing parents.
They always do the right thing for their kids.
    Selfless in their actions.
Holier Than Thou (sound familiar) because of the above.

If this section was to help people then fair enough.
Unfortunately, most of the women on here post from a personal point of view rather than a factual one as they are so so bitter (maybe rightly so in some cases). This then completely clouds any issue they have.
Once this occurs, the 'Right On': Defenders of Women turn up and its open season.

If alot of you didn't get so:
    - Emotional
    - Hell bent on revenge
    - Thought about your children as much as you do about money
You probably wouldn't be in this position in the first place.

    Rubbish!!!
This lady has shown that her children are more important than cash in their pocket.
She should be completely commended for this.
Yes the father should've paid more. But the mother that started this thread has taken a look at what is important and right for her family to move on.

    Well done Libbyc3. :)
If there were more parents with genuine care for their children over money, things would be so much smoother for everyone.
