Err ...that man is really scary!!!!
I miss those accounts since I came away from Halifax....they were really helpful to me.0 -
Shelley the "child-catcher" - I can see why she is looking at big houses to buy :rotfl:
Back to reality - 20p on the scratch, banking done and nothing to report there.
It was so warm and muggy last night so not much sleep obtained. I also got to share my room with lots of mozzies as a result of having the windows open - can't win really!
I hope you all have a good day xxSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hi Hypno! Thought I'd pop in your diary to say hello :-) Have only time to read this page if I'm going to get some of my clicks done, but I have found out I can get on MSE at lunchtimes at work, so maybe will get a read then ;-).
I'd completely forgotten about Halifax 'pots' - I'm with them, I'll have to set some up - especially because I'm scared Natwest will start taking money out of the accounts I have with them to pay my overdraft :-/0 -
Hi Racquela, and welcome to my strange corner of the universe
Re the "pots" of money - I suppose one way of doing it is looking at Martin's budget thingy and having a "pot" opened for anything that you enter as a yearly expense rather than a monthly one - so car tax, travel insurance, school trips......etc etc.
That would make a lot of savings pots, but might help with the budgeting and the "realities" of SOAs.
Haircuts is another thing - I never spend much, and not very often, but now I am at the point where I can't fit it in my day to day budget, so if I fancied being pampered on occasion, it just can't be done. But even £5 a month into a "haircut" pot would go someway towards an occasional treat!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Morning Hypno,
I love the idea of the pots and although I've looked into it before I've never done anything about it.
Halifax sounds ideal to do it too especially if you can name the pots rather than them having a number.
Is it a certain savings account they have or just an ordinary one that you can do the pots in?
Have a good day. x0 -
I like the names of accounts thing too! I think I might check to see if any of my lot do that. (Ing D, cahoot, A&L.... there's also a tiny account with Egg for some reason).
And I'm glad you've kept on with the outside of the house - thats a lot of work getting done, good for you.
I've decided to concentrate on the bathroom this month - that was what I was supposed to do when I started out on that "short term challenge" little thread.... though after yesterday's experience of a spider running across my chopping board and trying to get into my coffee filter, I'm tempted to do "spider proofing" as my August thing :rotfl:
Anyway, lots of opportunity to do mse stuff today, as the work I had today has been postponed - the rest of the week is quite busy with paid work, so I *must* get stuff done today. And its a hot one!
Hope it isn't too muggy for you in the office today, Hypno, have a good one, Hypno and all.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Tea, I have all mine online - I think that is the only way to do them. You do get a number as well, obviously, because you need that for setting up standing orders etc.....but you can name them whatever you want, and that is the thing you see when you log in! Even better, you can change the name - so if you are no longer saving for X, you can change the title to represent your new savings!
KC, we won't get all the outside done - it will cost more than we can manage this month, but a significant improvement is in progress, so that has to be a good thing!
the spiders are big at the moment - we have several making an appearance this week.....none of us are particularly enamoured to them either.....Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Improvement's the thing, isn't it - even scraping the stupid excess grout off the tiles and putting a hook on the door has made a difference in the bathroom
the sealant I've put between the bath and the tiles doesn't want to stick all the way round, luckily I have an unopened tube of flexible sealant.... and the woodworm holes I've doused with woodworm killer are actually spots of woodstain :rotfl: which has to be good news. And any woodworm that *do* now find their way are in for a surprise :rotfl:
Today - the rest of the grout, and sealant. I may even clean the mirrors
Glad to hear the spiders in the rest of the world are doing stuff too (tho not glad for your sake)2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
