Aha! A new £20 challenge. I'm still on the old one :o I spent about 5 euros in France that was unnecessary (2 bottles of wine and a bottle of caramel sauce, yum) and yesterday I bought a double decker for 50p.... and thats it! Honestly..... its pathetic, I really *need* more unnecessary spends.

Hi Hypno, glad to see things havent changed despite being on holiday. Youre still doing really well even if you have reached the budget. Hope Mr H is soon feeling better and the holiday gets back on track.
We did quite well with our hols this year we got two weeks back in Wales with the family budgetted for about €500 and spent €600 I still think that was good for a family of 5 days out with sarnies etc and a couple of meals out. We also did a day trip to the zoo and to the football ground so all in all didnt feel to guilty IYKWIM  hard to get out of the debt busting habit!

Poor Mr H, sorry to read he's still poorly :( You sound like you're having a nice busy holiday with all the sporting activites, would you ever have anything else?! ;)

Count me in on the £20 challenge......my signature still looks good, that's because I started arguing with myself about whether something was naughty or not so have probably spent it many, many times over!! So, next time I will be very strict with myself as I have got lots of financial targets as well as general living and LL diet to pay for -
    - £90 + however much the ferry will cost for our holiday next year (yup, I've booked for a holiday over a year in advance...couldn't resist the bargain)
    - an unknown amount for new carpets as mine are skanky in the extreme, but what the heck, I've lived with them for nearly 6 years!
    - £148XXX to pay my mortgage off by the time I'm 50. I'm on interest-only and will need to reduce it a lot by the next time my deal finishes, as I only got one this time by adding my tax credits, salary and maintenance together.....tax credits will virtually disappear when DD goes to school. Gulp.

So, I'll be up for all kinds of money making and saving challenges! I've started a diary on the MFW board and am being proactive :)

    Sorry for the waffle!

    Waffle away!

I am on interest only for our mortgage, to, which is in the region of £175k, and I am very aware of the fact that the capital needs to be hit hard.

I have joined the MFiT challenge starting in Mid December, with the aim of clearing £75k of it in three years.......but of course, before I can do that, I have to clear at least the unsecured element of this other debt

I'm almost half way to my next dooyoo payout, and have my next student arriving in a couple of weeks, so will be looking forward to the odds and ends of money coming in to go into the debt pot!!

Our spending budget for our hols was £400 which was always going to be a challenge, with the cost of activities being what they are......but we have eaten well, and the children have done quite a lot of stuff, so I don't think we have done too badly really. It worked out at £57 a day budget I think but that isn't much when meals, activities, and a Starbucks habit are taken into consideration :o We won't be too far out, though - pizza in the villa for dinner this evening.

I think thats an amazing budget to even have come close to. I went to center parcs for a long weekend. Think I spent more than that on just me. Things were expensive and tempting :rotfl:

I must get back on dooyoo, only did one review and keep on *forgetting* to do more......but have listed 11 books on Amaz*n, some of which should get me quite a bit of cash if they sell as, even though they're only a few years old, are already out of print!
