Coffee Republic goes into administration

LONDON (Dow Jones)--U.K. coffee bar and deli chain Coffee Republic (UK) Ltd. has been placed in administration and a number of the company's loss making outlets are expected to close, financial services firm KPMG said Tuesday.
"We will be doing whatever we can to find a buyer for the residual business as a going concern as quickly as possible, so interested parties will have to be prepared to move fast," Richard Hill, KPMG partner and joint administrator, said.
The company, a division of Coffee Republic PLC (CFE.LN), which is listed on the AIM exchange, suspended its shares on Monday.

These are the sort out lets that are sadly in the front line in this sort of climate. Tanning centres, nail bars and so many things spring to mind.

God, pretty soon we will only have Starbucks, Costa Coffee, Caffe Nero and just a dozen or so other coffee houses every four shops on the high street. How will we cope?

(Top MSE tip: just make it in your office / home and pour it in to a Starbucks cup to make you look like a trendy monkey.)

Anything from about £1.80 for a simple cup of joe, right up to somewhere around £4 for a mocha-chocha-latte-chino-hint of nutneg- no fat - full whip-no cream - I work in the media-dash of cinnamon-espresso-grande special thing.

Poncy cups of coffe at £4 a pop?

It's a f*cking joke. And an indication of how pretentious and unsustainable our society and economy has become.

    A boom-time business dependent on boom-time incomes.

I'll be glad to see the back of them and their ilk.

Better latte than never I suppose.
