SugarSpun hope your baby comes soon :j
Have been sitting for the past hour guilt tripping myself so Ive come here for advice.
Its my Grandads 80th Birthday on Sunday but he is in hospital and has been for the past 8 weeks with no sign of him being released for another 8 - 10 weeks. Now for his birthday we had planned a little tea in the house and we were just buying him a card as my mam and dad were planning to take him to Eastbourne for a week so we were just going to contribute to that as it is the only thing he wants. With the circumstances being as they are I feel I need something to take into hospital for him on Sunday.
Any ideas??? Oh to add to things he is bedridden at the minute and is being fed through a tube in his stomach so food etc is no good.
Sorry this post has gone on a bit
Could you buy him a selection of magazines? puzzle books? and maybe a nice pen to use?Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
How about a frame with a nice montage of family photos for him to remind him of everyone who loves him and is thinking about him while he's stuck there? He will have this to take home with him afterwards then? Or how about arranging for someone to come in and give him a proper, old fashioned barber - style shave, and a new bed jacket/cardi, so he can spruce himself up a bit, if he's fit for that, and if he's the kind of man who likes to be smart and presentable in that particular way men of that generation have.
Just reread that, it sounds a bit pompous, but I hope you see what I mean? It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0 -
Hello all ................sorry, can't think of any ideas for your grandad mrsow - used to get similar problems when my mum was ill. The idea of a photo sounds nice and he could take it home with him.
I'm off tomorrow on holiday/visiting son on the south coast and hoping the weather will be ok...........feel I've got to pack for all seasons (enough for a month the way I'm going..............lol)
Back on Thursday so I'll get back into the swing of things then. Not doing anything 'crafty' today -washing on the line so have to watch the weather, plus put together all the 'extras' - medication, Travel Lodge special offer receipts, draft excluder I made for son (his nans old one I recovered) disposable camera -if OH remembers to get one............lol Oh what the heck.........if I forget something there's plenty of shops.......(like I'd need an excuse to go shopping !)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

There is another version of the handprint poem. My daughter did one when she was about 2 at creche and I adore it, its now framed.
There used to be so many
Of my fingerprints to see
On furniture and walls and things
From sticky grubby me
But if you stop and think a while
You'll see i'm growing fast
Those little handprints disappear
They can't bring back whats passed
So here's a small reminder
To keep, not wipe away
Of tiny hands and how they looked
To make you smile some day
I remember almost blarting my eyes out when she gave it to me0 -

Back now, didn't get any bargins today, and my brain seems to have gone dead:o Feel so drained . I've been trying to work out all my money nuertral stuff for update on other thread tomorrow and I'm not getting very far. Not really thought about Christmas today.
Going to have a strong cup of coffee now and see if that makes me feel any better.
My son did one of those hand prints in nursery a few years ago, they put the poem on and one of those little calander things I was crying too when I read the poem. Love the T.shirt Idea sammy-kaye, might have to do that one, maybe try and see if I can get my little sister doing 2 when she's over next week so she can give one to Dad and her mum, thats if I can get her on her own for an hour.
Hope you sort the pressie thing out mrsow.
Nice to see you Rusty, it seems like ages since I've seen you.
Mary have you managed to do the Coffee Mixes as well then? did you try them out?
Irishgirl - No bargins, but it was nice to get out of the house again, I did manage to get some nice tiles for the bathroom floor though.
Sugarspun, hope little one comes soon, good Luck with everything.
