    Morning Sarah

Am going to get cracking on some Xmas craft bits today I think - mainly my cross stitch present that needs doing for October so it can be framed but might dig out my card making bits and have a look later on.

Then might hunt for a few easy crafts that Ben can do himself. Im thinking a few craft presents along the line of a foam hand print turned into a magnet reindeer for some elderly relatives and as a small token gift for those we don't really buy for but send presents too.

Sounds like your going to have a lovely day sammy-kaye, I'm hoping to get some bits I need today to do a few crafts with the kids, want to try and get their homemade christmas gifts out of the way over the six weeks holidays as we have booked to go away in october so don't want to be rushing them . Still can't decide what to make, they have picked a few things for certain people but still need to think of others. I need to pop to ASDA to get the Smartprice White mugs so they can do the teachers gifts.

  • Morning all!

Not too sure what i'm getting up to today, myself and my youngest aren't feeling too good today actually...i'm terrified at the moment of the dreaded oink flu - i'm not generally a panicy (sp?) person but what with being pg i'm quite worried. I'd love to get the kids making some crafty bits to go in with the grandparents hampers but i'm not quite sure what? They're only 6, 3 & 1 so they're quite young....

On the subject of the latest challenge I sat down and made my list last night - we've only just been moved so my eldest 2 are starting a new school in September, which means all new uniform apart from skirts for my DD. Where is everyone getting there uniform from this year? I usually go to M&S but we're trying to tighten our belts so I think I should really start looking for bargains elsewhere. My DD has just seen the Lelli Kellie advert for their new school shoe range and is now pleading for a pair - however I would imagaine they'll probably be more expensive than Clarks!

Pips Mum - you mentioned you got a Calsberg Ice Bucket for £2.99, do you mind if I ask where from?

Anyway, enough rambling....have a good day all!

You could get your young ones to make some hand printed items - I think these are quite pretty and you could put them on a variety of things. I got Ben to put his hand on a piece of card, drew round it and then put it in the corner of a blank canvas that I had from pound land (pack of 3 i think) and then I wrote the hand print poem on the canvas.

    Sometimes you get discouraged
    Because I am so small,
    And always leave my fingerprints
    On furniture and walls.
    But everyday I'm growing,
    I'll be grown up someday,
    And all these tiny handprints
    Will simply fade away.
    So here's a final handprint
    Just so you can recall,
    Exactly how my fingers looked
    When I was very small."

Sure I've seen something similiar too that you get a white tshirt, coloured fabric paint and put the kids feet in it and get them to walk on the tshirt (front and back) then in the middle of the front write 'my grandkids/son/daughter walks all over me'. lol thought that was quite a cute and funny git and could be kept as a keepsake if you write the names and ages around the hem of the shirt. Was thinking I might do this as a joke present for my dad this year.

SCHOOL UNIFORM - Be Wise usually have a good selection of coloured polo shirts if that's what your girls are wearing and Ethol Austin is good too for summer dresses etc

    Morning all!

No sign of baby and she is now officially late. Given that I've been expecting her to make an appearance since mid-June based on all probability, this irony is not pleasing me one little bit.

Anyway, I thought this might amuse some of you: it's a make-your-own belt guide. The Guardian craft pages are frequently supercool, there's also a great laptop sleeve guide from a couple of months back that I'd recommend taking a look at.

I love that idea! Thankyou. Is it like material canvass? How would you write on that?

SugarSpun hope your baby comes soon :j

Have been sitting for the past hour guilt tripping myself so Ive come here for advice.
Its my Grandads 80th Birthday on Sunday but he is in hospital and has been for the past 8 weeks with no sign of him being released for another 8 - 10 weeks. Now for his birthday we had planned a little tea in the house and we were just buying him a card as my mam and dad were planning to take him to Eastbourne for a week so we were just going to contribute to that as it is the only thing he wants. With the circumstances being as they are I feel I need something to take into hospital for him on Sunday.
Any ideas??? Oh to add to things he is bedridden at the minute and is being fed through a tube in his stomach so food etc is no good.
Sorry this post has gone on a bit

I'm sorry I don't get on here as often as I should. But thought I would come and give a quick update from me.

I didn't manage to get the freezers done, although they are still both on the list .... As for this months challenge? I am like furry and would need a picture of what I was supposed to be doing as I didn't understand it!!

DS's school uniform is already all bought and paid for and has been for approx 3 weeks so I am ahead there. The only think I am waiting for is a new school water bottle but that won't be until the first day of term as it was through the school etc.

and for the non mums challenge I did have lots of late night baths, and instead of half an hour/hour reading I have read 2 books in 3 days lol I am shattered because of it though ...
