I love Christmas as much as the rest of you, completley nutty about it really (just incase you hadn't realised yet)... but this poem just about sums it all up (well the aftermath anyway...:o)
Twas The Month After ChristmasTwas the month after Christmas and all through the house
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.
The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste.
All the holiday parties had gone to my waist.
When I got on the scales there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber).
I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared;
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared,
The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese
And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please."
As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt---
I said to myself, as I only can
"You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!"
So--away with the last of the sour cream dip,
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip
Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
Till all the additional ounces have vanished.
I won't have a cookie--not even a lick.
I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.
I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie,
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.
I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore---
But isn't that what January is for?
Unable to giggle, no longer a riot.
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!

Hey all,
Just checking in and saying hello to all you lovely ladies and gents.
I've just been told that I'm officially signed off sick till the end of October so I'm planning to keep myself busy with loads of xmas organising fun.
Tomorrow I'm planning to fill in the challenge bits in my folder and force feed my OH cereal untill I have an empty box. Looking forward to the tutorial as I can't quite get my head around the written instructions.I've always been better with an example lol.
I going to hunt down some cheap biccys and ice lolly sticks (does anyone know if they sell them in wilko`s?) and use up some of my cake decorating stash. I love an experiment and OH plays football with his mates twice a week so they can be my guinea pigs lol.
Keep up the good work everyone.
Love

mum2one – sending some virtual raspberry jam over to you!! The addresses are only so organised because I had most of them for sending out invites and thank you cards for the wedding last year. Lol And, although I haven’t done the freezer yet, I ate a whole tub of Hagaan Daz and watched Santa Claus The Movie last night….. does having my reward early count?? Lol
whizzer01 – thanks!
Sarah – oh no, get plenty of rest!
So, from now until the beginning of August anytime any of you mention fab deals, or great present buying websites, I shall have my fingers in my ears and will be going “lalalalalalalalaaaaaaaaaaaaaa”. I can’t afford anything until next month – not only because each month is tight anyway, but some evil %$&^ has pinched £360 from my bank account using a cheque book that never arrived with me and was SUPPOSED to be cancelled by my bank. Long story, won’t bore you all, but have to wait 4 weeks for them to work out whether or not I wrote the cheques (3 weeks left to go), and then once they can be bothered to refund me, I’m playing holy hell. Not only should the cheque book have been cancelled in the first place and therefore unusable, but they also won’t give me a temporary (temporary!! That’s all I want!!) overdraft extension to cover all the missing money – only an additional £200. Wow. Great. That really allows me to pay remaining bills and get petrol for my car!! I’ll just magic an additional £160 from thin air!!
Sorry, rant over, and completely off topic, but I knew you mse’s would understand…. <sniffle>
Back to sparkly Christmas stuff!!
Clare xxx
Sorry to hear about ur cheque book, its a right farce when you have to prove ur innoncent.......
Hope you get it sorted out, I had similar prob - what a day Millenium day (2000), some darling person nicked my handbag, wrote out over £900 quids worth of chqs.... luckly got all my cards cancelled, but the bank who I then banked with didnt at the time count chequebook thread as fraud! Luckly I had the police on my side, they caught the woman, mine was taken into account....... like you never mind the hassle......
Good luck xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Hi all!
CAn I come to play, please please please pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!??
Ive just found this thread as due to being strapped for cash, I have been inspired to make my own hampers and cards etc this year!
I did my first little hamper as his teachers present at the end of term and probably cost me about £4.50 to put together including the cellophane and ribbon. But everyone was so impressed with it, its given me a bit of confidence to do some more.......if I could spend a £5 on everyone for christmas, I would definitely be onto a winner! If Im feeling really brave, I may sell some at the Christmas Craft Fair at the school to make some money! (if I can!)
Like someone else has mentioned previously, you end up spending more than you need to on Christmas by not being very well organised! So my folder is at the ready, Ive printed off a few of the posts, and will write up my dividers tonight.
I will also sort out the freezers!
And just so you all know, my elf name is
:rotfl:
