Hi all!
CAn I come to play, please please please pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!??
Ive just found this thread as due to being strapped for cash, I have been inspired to make my own hampers and cards etc this year!
I did my first little hamper as his teachers present at the end of term and probably cost me about £4.50 to put together including the cellophane and ribbon. But everyone was so impressed with it, its given me a bit of confidence to do some more.......if I could spend a £5 on everyone for christmas, I would definitely be onto a winner! If Im feeling really brave, I may sell some at the Christmas Craft Fair at the school to make some money! (if I can!)
Like someone else has mentioned previously, you end up spending more than you need to on Christmas by not being very well organised! So my folder is at the ready, Ive printed off a few of the posts, and will write up my dividers tonight.
I will also sort out the freezers!
And just so you all know, my elf name is

Thanks Snappy Sparkle Toes!
I forgot to say that this is the first year I will be making my own christmas dinner and things.....I normally travel to spend Christmas with my family, and have never actually spent xmas in my own house.
But this year, My mum and sister will be off travelling round Oz and my brother will be with his Girlfriend and her family......so my and my little boy will be at home for the first time!!
I want it to be super-oober-christmassy and dont want him to end up eating beans on toast cos I made a mess of everything!
with my plans in place (and you lot to keep me right) Im sure that wont happen!

A Microsoft Christmas
'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, except Papa's mouse.
The computer was humming, the icons were hopping,
As Papa did last minute Internet shopping.
The stockings were hung by the modem with care
In hope that St. Nicholas would bring new software.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of computer games danced in their heads.
PageMaker for Billy, and Quicken for Dan,
And Carmen Sandiego for Pamela Ann.
The letters to Santa had been sent out by Mom,
To santaclaus@toyshop.northpole.com -
Which has now been re-routed to Washington State
Because Santa's workshop has been bought by Bill Gates.
All the elves and reindeer have had to skedaddle
To flashy new quarters in suburban Seattle.
After centuries of a life that was simple and spare,
St. Nicholas is suddenly a new billionaire,
With a shiny red Porsche in the place of his sleigh,
And a house on Lake Washington that's just down the way
From where Bill has his mansion. The old fellow preens
In black Gucci boots and red Calvin Klein jeans.
The elves have stock options and desks with a view,
Where they write computer code for Johnny and Sue.
No more dolls or toy soldiers or little toy drums (ahem - pardon me)
No more dolls or tin soldiers or little toy drums
Will be under the tree, only compact disk ROMS
With the Microsoft label. So spin up your drive,
From now on Christmas runs only on Win95.
More rapid than eagles the competitors came,
And Bill whistled, and shouted, and called them by name.
"Now, ADOBE! Now, CLARIS! Now, INTUIT! too,
Now, APPLE! and NETSCAPE! you are all of you through,
It is Microsoft's SANTA that the kids can't resist,
It's the ultimate software with a traditional twist -
Recommended by no less than the jolly old elf,
And on the package, a picture of Santa himself.
Get 'em young, keep 'em long, is Microsoft's scheme,
And a merger with Santa is a marketer's dream.
To the top of the NASDAQ! to the top of the Dow!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away - wow!"
And Mama in her 'kerchief and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
The whir and the hum of our satellite platter,
As it turned toward that new Christmas star in the sky,
The SANTALITE owned by the Microsoft guy.
As I sprang from my bed and was turning around,
My computer turned on with a Jingle-Bells sound.
And there on the screen was a smiling Bill Gates
Next to jolly old Santa, two arm-in-arm mates.
And I heard them exclaim in voice so bright,
Have a Microsoft Christmas, and to all a good night.

I'm sure you will have a lovely day, and it will be so christmassy, get planning and organising now and you will be able to enjoy everything that christmas brings. Nothing beats that smug feeling of knowing it's all done and dusted before the 1st of december and you can sit back and relax snuggled up with your little one watching christmas films.

sarah - so sorry to hear you've got the dreaded flu.........get well soon.
Brilliant all the christmas stuff your finding.
I found a load the other year but lost the web sites when I changed computer. There was one about the history of christmas, one all about christmas seals (anyone remember them?) and if you google 'the night before christmas' there's one site that has so many funny variations I'm going to print them off this year for my son.............if I can find it again.............lol
cd - what a B****r !! Is there anything anwhere on this site that might advise you what to do ? Surely the bank must refund you. My foster daughter had £1000 taken from her account and luckily her bank refunded it while they investigated though they said chances of finding out who'd taken it were slim. It had all been taken in small purchases so she didn't even notice it on her bank statement, specially has she was re-furbishing after her house caught fire.I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
