Havent been on for a couple of days so a good bit of catching up was needed......

cdsmiler - congrats on baby Bethan how lovely. hope mum and wee one doing well

Mum2one - hope your doing better - just what you could have done without right before christmas (although a good excuse to have others lend a much needed helping hand ;)) EDITED TO ADD : nearly forgot to say congrats on open uni course. I'm studying too and have really got to start back into it in New Year or when my exam in May comes round I'll be in serious diffs.

3CP - hopefully the waiting list wont be too long and they will have you in and sorted asap and in the mean time look after yourself

MaryOP - maybe all the drama will be over with now and you can get to relax (fingers crossed for you)

hope I haven't missed anyone (apologies if I have)

Afraid I dont have any useful information as usually here is where I get it all from :D

Cant believe Christmas is basically on our doorstep. Seems like only a few days ago it was ages away and now its almost here. Starting to panic that I have forgotten something. Keep checking and rechecking my lists just incase. eeeeeeeeeek

xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx
  • Sorry if this duplicates itself just wrote a big long post and then lost it. Can't remember what I put now!

Had a lovely christmassy evening yesterady, finished my baking with the carols and candles on, just the yule log to decorate now. The boys were so good and finished off their crafty bits and christmas cards, can't believe how much they got thorugh they had a lovely time.

Feeling festive now, last day at work, OH on his way home, and looking forward to present wrapping tonight.

mum2one hope you are doing OK and not getting too frustrated. Make sure you're being looked after;)

Mary, am sending you big {{{{{hugs}}}}}, it's so difficult when things like that happen and the stress piles on. Hope the radiator is soon fixed adn the light fittings are not too badly damaged. I am trying to tell myself these things don't really matter in the scheme of thigns, as our washing machine appears to have packed in...

I will take this chance to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, hope everything goes smoothly and you have lovely times with your families making special memories. I will try and be around, especially for the santa's challenge, but to be hoonest I tend to hibernate a bit over Christmas so won't be online much.
    MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!

  • Morning all.

Thank you all. Gallstones seem to have quiten down now. I have gone to GP for some more medication incase it comes back as scared to be in the much pain again over Christmas

Mum2One ~ hope your feeling ok and not too sore or in pain. Thats the problem you can drive carefully and take all the necessary precautions but you cant control the idiots on the road

We went to our Panto Sunday and it was brilliant. It was our local one with no celebritys in but my children and i all thought it was better then the bigger ones we have been to in the past :T

Ok i am starting to panic and feeling over whelmed now  Only 3 days to go and i feel there is loads left to do(even tho there prob isnt). My kids are home and everytime i turn around there seems more mess to tidy back up. Plus they are bickering non stop :o My mum is coming to stay with us for the first time ever tomorrow for a week and i want everything to be perfect. I am such a perfectionist and wish i could relax and stop getting so up tight about everything being perfect. Any advice

I went to Sainsburys this morning at 6.15am and did all the shopping. It was absolute bliss - only a few customers, the shelves were all full (poor staff had been working all night) and no queues at the check out. :D I was home drinking tea and eating a mince pie (with everything put away) by 9am:T I am an extremely happy bunny!:D

I think the only advice that can be given is that you are only human and no one expects everything to be absolutely perfect. You are not in control of everything and therefore things will not go according to your plan.
I have been there so many times (I am terrible obsessive compulsive with things going to plan) and I don't think a day has ever gone according to my plans yet but in saying that it hasn't gone horribly wrong either. A lot of the times it ends up far better when it isn't regimented. :o

I try to look at it like this.... if you have got the essentials for a good day in the house ready and all the people that you want there are going to be there then thats the hard part the rest will just fall into place.
Most importantly - there are other people in the house to help take the stress off - remember you are only one person and cannot be expected to do it all get everyone to muck in - you need a break too!! and if the kids still keep acting up use bribery or threaten no toys/santa etc it might work for a few minutes which i presume is better than nothing ;)

by boxing day everyone will be wondering what all the fuss was about and if it did go wrong you will all have a darn good laugh about it. and if all else fails theres always a drop of alcohol about to take the edge off.

sorry didn't mean to ramble on :o

    Hello all :j
Managed to get a plumber who checked radiator and no more leaks...........he'll fix it properly when he's got more time (hope not too long)..........while he was here he did the light fittings as well........nothing too disastrous and OH maybe could have done them but stretching up was too painful for him.
He did have a 'Bah humbug' moment though........also an issue with his specs (last year his specs broke and he managed with a paper clip (how Jack Duckworth is that!).........this time blu tak but yesterday when he was fiddling with the radiator that fell off and he trood on them !! So off to opticians in town (roads too bad to go to specsavers) who fixed them free of charge !! He put £5 in the charity box -he was so thrilled he could wear them properly again..........;)
Local tele chap came and put new ariel up for tele (hoping he didn;t notice all the muck behind the tele!)so we can now get the digi channels we lost with all the re-tuning nonsense.........trouble is there's 100 channels and the extra ones we normally might want to watch we've got to scroll through I don't know how many to find them  I wouldn't bother with it but OH does like his tele.
Spoke to son in Worthing............birthday card for his girlfriend and both their christmas cards still not arrived after being posted over a week ago  -further 'bah humbug moment'
He sent two parcels to us..........one came today, the other he paid extra for so it got here yesterday but it didn't -another 'bah humbug moment'
And here's me with the idea that now seems silly of doing something like a family scrapbook for everyone then at least I can post it if the weather's bad...........well, thinking not such a good idea now:eek:

On plus side..........spent a bit of time sorting out some bits of 'home made creations' (if you can call them that) for young girl who hoovers for me and did the horrendous trip yesterday. Made little gift bags to pop them all in so they look a bit better than they really are........she'll be pleased I know.
OH feeling more positive I think.............especially now teles sorted and light fittings etc. Food shopping being done tomorrow and delivery all booked.
Hospital appt for Jan 20th came today for OH so must think positive for that.

Thats been it for today.................something to put in my diary I think...................oh I'm so glad I kept one this year..............it's a must for next year:rotfl:
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Thank you Kiwk :T You are right. My mum is coming tomorrow so think i will try to take a deep breath and relax and deligate more. :o I have managed to calm the kids down by giving them a job each which they were all quite happy about and did a good job. :D

Glad you got you radiator and dh got his glasses fixed Mary. I have been lucky with the post and not had any delays or probs but would feel very frustrated if i had. Saying that i dont think we had a postal delivery today  I am waiting for 1 thing to be delivered so hope its here tomorrow.

Kingshir ~ I am having most my last few shopping bits delivered tomorrow. DH is going to pop into Asda Christmas eve to get bits from the deli like meats and cheese. Its a nice feeling to sit at home knowing its all done and finished whilst others are running about still buying :rotfl:
