Clare,
For things to go with your dream catcher, the above might help. There are only 3 and 2 left of the books respectively though so be quick if you want them.0 -
You're welcome kalojac, glad I could help!
It's fab isn't it?!0 -
I've found some great charity shop buys to tell you all about...
A wooden jewellry box chest of drawers with an opening lid with a mirror and ring bit for £2.99. I am going to paint it and embellish it for my cousin's birthday and I am making a scrapbook page canvas that will match.
A poker pint glass for my friend's husband who loves poker, £1.99.
A silver clutch bag originally from Dorthery Perkins, for £1.99! Perfect for a particular friend.
A black faux leather filofax type diary for 99p! I think I am going to use it as my carry around ideas book, then I can just put inserts in when I run out of paper.
A stunning, never been used, tea light holder set ornament decorative thing with three blue glass holders, for one pound. It is my boyfriend's mum's favourite colour blue and I think she'll love it. I'll take a photo of it at somepoint over the weekend to show you.
A nail varnish drying machine orginially from Marks and Spencers for £1.50. Haven't decided whether to keep this for myself yet or not!0 -

cyclura,
of course you join in, you are more than welcome. Everyone is lovely and we all help each other.
I don't have children yet so can't speak from experience regarding what would be best and I haven't known my boyfriend's neices and newphews since birth so not sure how best to advise I'm afraid. How about soft toys with no sharp or loose bits? Things that rattle, make a noise, engaging and response type toys? They would stimulate her senses wouldn't it and be fun. How about bits from Mothercare? My computer is really playing up so I can't check their site, but here it is - www.mothercare.com I'm sure they'd do special stuff nearer to Christmas and would have sales at somepoint.
Do you do any sort of crafting? You could make a sign for her bedroom door, a scrapbook page mounted onto canvas, a wall hanging, make a blanket or a mobile for over her cot. A diary charting her first few months and Christmas that she could read in years to come? A scrapbook? I'll see if I can think of anything else.
This is the baby thread, only a few of us either aren't pregnant or don't have children, so you are defintiely in the right place for some advice!
Bit of a story here... I haven't been very well recently and was vomitting madly, feeling faint, etc etc and everyone at work thought I was pregnant. Someone at work ended up taking me to hospital at one point as I was that ill and had been sick 7 times in a few hours, turns out I'd had gastroenteritus for over a week! Am a lot better now thankfully. I am doing a charity zip wire next week, I'm just glad I wasn't doing it last week, I would've had even more reason to be sick!0 -

I got both of mine toys that would last until the next Christmas, some suitable for their age at Christmas, but most of them for later on during the year - I figured we'd need to get them other toys anyway and when they are that young they change so quickly so might as well stock up at Christmas!!
We did get them each a piggy bank for their first Christmas, and any Christmas and birthday money they get goes into them for when they are a bit older (they will only be 4 and 2 this Christmas)
Suggestions for things she might like suitable for this Christmas:
Books (board, fabric, bath etc)
Soft toys
Bath toys

Doll
Can't think of anything else at the moment, hope there is something useful there!

Buying baby presents is my favourite! My son has just turned 21 months old, so not that far back to remember him being 7 months old. Here are some present ideas. I can't post links yet so I'll name the shop and item. All these toys can be found on the shop's website:
Early Learning Centre - stacking-cups - £6 set of stacking cups. One of my sons favourite presents and he still plays with them now. The little ones are great for travelling with as they fit in most bags. Currently we have a couple in the sandpit for sandcastle building, 3 in the bath for splashing and drenching Mummy with (and also hair washing) and the rest are in his room for every day play. I didn't pay £6 though, got the set for 20p at car boot
Wilkinsons - Baby roller - £3.28 - blow up rolling thing that encourages baby to crawl - much cheaper than ELC or toysrus versions, but just as good. My boy now uses this to whack things with!
ToysRus - anything from the Garden Friends range, they are all so cute! My favourite is Wriggling Wallace Worm (£6). He's a big multicoloured worm and when you stretch him he wriggles and jiggles back again, he's great :rotfl:!
Other ideas:
bath toys
bath books
cloth books
soft doll or teddy
teething toys
toys that attach onto pram or car seat bars, especially ones that do something e.g. move or play music.
highchair toys - ones with suckers on the base so they stay on the tray.
You could try taking her shopping with you and see what catches her eye. If you give her a toy in the shop and she doesn't show any interest at all then it saves you wasting your money.
Also, I wouldn't spend too much. For my sons first Christmas I went overboard and some of the things I got him, like a big toy garage, he's only just started playing with properly now. He was much happier with little toys at that age.
Hope this helpsMaking money for Christmas 2012!0 -
