I recently joined Amazon. Although I didn't fall for that Prime Delivery thing, it's no wonder so many people have. Their site is a mess. An FAQ showing steps to log out? LOL

I signed up for Amazon Prime and then cancelled before the trial period expired. It really wasn't difficult and I fail to see how people are being 'duped' into this.

IVe signed up to prime trial because its nearly Xmas and well Amazon / which ever postal method they used lost my copy of Mamma Mia and I wanted to get some stuff in time for Xmas - Cant complain with it But i have set it up so they dont take the payment - Think people saw free upgrade and just clicked yes or something coz i KNOW i had to tick a box for it agreeing to the trial and then automatic fee being charged.
Love is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?

I too can't see how anyone can be duped into signing up.

My first experience of Prime is pretty rubbish though. Signed up today, received confirmation email, yet when i try to order it doesnt recognise me as a Prime member. Called customer service in india "oh, it takes 24 hours to be activated"!!
So much for speeding things up!
  • I have also just been charged £47.97 for this so called Prime Membership. When i ordered the particular item this way it said "AMAZON PRIME ONE DAY DELIVERY IS FREE". I cannot recall seeing anything about any menbership and certainly nothing about any charge. The item I sent for was only £4.99 so it has now cost me £52.96. I have emailed Amazon to see if i can get refund or not so we shall see. They certainly do not make it clear about this fee and something should be done about it.

If a whole pop-up page containing the following information that you have to read before clicking the huge yellow button at the bottom (which unfortunately hasn't shown up on this copy due to format) to proceed with the trial isn't clear enough for you, then I don't know what is!

Just to let people know I have received reply from Amazon and they are refunding me the money. Must say they have excellent customer service. Well impressed.
  • I did cancel mine but still got charged, so just phoned them on 0800 4961081, spoke very calmly and politely to the lady expained that I had cancelled it and she looked into my ac and said that there must have been a problem with the computer their end accepting my response so she cancelled it just now and is refunding me the full amount. Excellent customer service.

Wooo arent Amazon excellent! Having once again used MSE to realise others have been having this problem, I called amazon customer service, and immediately got though to them, and informed them of my accidental ticking of boxes for the Prime, 2 minutes later she offered me a full refund. Brilliant service.

If you sign up to the Amazon Prime and forget to cancel after the free trial period, then so long as you have not used Amazon Prime after the free trial period they will refund the payment.
