IIRC you even get an email to remind you that your free trial is nearly up

    Yes, you certainly do :D

  • I'm also not sure how people have signed up by mistake. I use Amazon regularly but have not had this happen to me. Where is the bit that it asks you if you want to join and how exactly is it worded?

It is on the main page - the majority of the stuff which is sold by amazon and NOt the marketplace sellers are elligble for next day delivery- if you make alot of purchase from them and has been mentioned you can get 4 members of your immediate family to get next day delivery too then for some it says alot on the postage charges

it states clearly that it is a 1 month free trial and that if you dont want to extend beyond the 30 day period that you go into your account settings and cancel it
  • I recently also came across this situation.
If it were so easily avoidable i dont think so many people would have wrote in complaining.
I even had to cancel my credit card as i thought it had been frauduantly used and it wasnt until i came across this site that i even knew what the Prime membership fee was about.
Its easily done and i dont think Amazon has made it clear enough when you sign up for free delivery.
All i can say is if it wasnt for this site i would still be sat at home wondering what the hell was going on as on my bank statement it doesnt say Amazon prime member fee, even the bank didnt know!!
Anyway have just cancelled the membership and im hoping to hear back from Amazon with a refund.
Thanks folks for making this possible.

I used the Amazon trial too, not sure how you could not know you were signing up to it. It was not automatic and you had to choose to take the trial option. It reminder you to cancel if you didn't want to continue and you could choose that option from the start anyway.

Think Custardy has it spot on :rotfl:
  • Hi Joanne:

I was caught out in exactley the same way. When I recieved my credit card statement yesterday afternoon I googled the term "Prime Member Fee" and discovered your note.

I contacted AMAZON at 8am this morning on 0800 496 1080. I explained that, at no time did Amazon seek either seek my authority or inform me of their intention to take a £49.00 payment from my credit card. As I had recieved two orders via prime post since the "1 month free trial" had expired, Amazon agreed to supply me with a £45.00 refund which I accepted.

    Hope this helps.;)
