Water Bills questions and comment

My water bill has just been increased from £35.00 per month to £41.00. £72.00 a year! They say they need to invest in the upkeep and improvement. Make the shareholders pay is what I say. I have written to complain. They say that had to increase this year by 9% and 5% average over next 10 years. I calculate a 20% increase in this years water bill for me.
Any suggestions?

I live in a large block of flats with no drainpipes or gutters. The rain that hits my flat would run down the flats below and eventually fall into the grass 5 floors down. Would I be eligible to claim a lower surface water drainage charge?0

We need to save rainwater, I wouldn't drink it but there must be enough rain to flush a few toilets in the year, Divert the gutters to a toiley flushing tank in the loft. I'm not an engineer but would it be worth doing?0

I can suggest a water meter. Even with the number of people in your property you are likely to save money.
If I am right, you will be with United Utilities. Give them a call on 0854 7461100 and request a Free Meter Option Infomaation Pack.
You can get a meter installed for free, have it for 12 months, if it isn't cheaper go back onto the ratable value system for free.

Don't forget http://www.saynoto0870.com/ United Utilities phone number is: 0800 330033 or 0800 0567693 I phoned and the lady said I'd phoned the wrong number and she transfered me meaning I still didn't pay for the call.0
