Water Bills questions and comment

Yes, when you put it like that it does look a bit silly, I was not aware it was going down so slowly, my gripe is my credit report shows 9 out of 12 months I have5 or 6 missed payments a month but I've never missed a payment, if my account had just showed a debt of 500 reducing to 220 and no missed payments I'm sure they would approve the mortgage!0

I live on my own and pay £17 per month I'm not sure if this is good or not? But I do have a water meter0
-
Had a water meter fitted back in July but my bills still reflect the higher price, when I called they said they only read the meters every 6 months & I may not get mine read for some time.
However at the rate I am paying it feels like I am paying for nothing as it should be doing nothing but putting my account into credit, is there anything I can do?0 -
Check your meter first or report a complaint.0

Affinity water seem to be "in transition"-by that I mean--they might at long last be realising that the service they provide is for their customers and not for themselves. They have got as far as fitting me a meter, but my on line account still says "your meter will soon be fitted" . I intend to opt for early metered billing--but there is nowhere on their site to opt in for this other than by opening an account(which i already have) .I am reluctant to ring "billing" since it is outsourced and my account says I am unable to submit a meter reading because i am unmetered!....meanwhile my hop along non metered direct debit continues to be taken monthly ....I am glad this company is treating it's customers with so much respect.
God help them!0 -

If you stop paying all they can do is ask that you pay. They can't cut you off. They can not report to a credit reference agency that you are in arrears. They may eventually take you to court to get a CCJ against you but they'll warn you before they take that action and you can restart paying.
I would then pay by standing order so you are in control of the payments.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

I have a question on behalf of my sister, who lives in an ex-council property that has a water supply which is shared with the council property next door - the pipework splits to the two properties in one of the two front gardens.
She currently pays for water by Rateable Value which, as she is a single person living in a 3-bed house, comes to more than £600 a year.
She is now just about to be made redundant and so would really like to reduce this to a more reasonable amount if possible.
When she contacts her supplier, all they say is that she cannot have a water meter unless she pays to have the pipework (which dates from the 1950s when the estate was built) modified so that a meter can be installed.
In these circumstances, should she be eligible for "assessed charge" as a single person, irrespective of the supplier, or is this something that only some suppliers offer? IIRC she is with SouthEastern Water for supply.0 -
Irrespective of water/sewerage supplier, she is entitled to an assessed charge; this from South East Water's website.
Assessed chargesIf you have applied to have a have a water meter fitted but it is not possible to install a meter at your property, you can opt to pay an assessed charge. If you are due to have a meter installed as part of our metering programme and we are not able to install one, then you will automatically be transferred on to assessed charges.
However she must first apply for a meter in writing.0 -

Welcome to the forum.
There is a section of this forum called 'credit file and ratings'. I suggest you ask your question there; however you will need to give more detail - date, reason etc.0
