E-on extortionate monthly payment

Question for the EON rep please. I have just joined EON because over the last few years my previous supplier move my annual review date from August to April and created an a debit in the process. So I have started my year in July at EON which normally results in a credit/debit situation that is on an equal footing for both customer and company. So has my move been pointless as the tariffs are not very different. Will EON change my annual review from July to the spring so that I will always be in credit and never in debit?
Hi cranford
Annual reviews are done in the spring (April, May or June).
When you switch to us we work out how much energy we think you will use from the date of the switch until the annual review. This is then divided into equal monthly payments.
Our calculations will be based on the info you provided about your usage when you switched.
The aim is for a zero balance at the annual review.
Give us a call to find out the actual time of your review. This will let you see how many payments can be made from the first payment date until the annual review.
At the annual review we will look at your projected usage for the next 12 months. Your Direct Debit will then be re-assessed and divided into 12 equal monthly payments.
Hope this answers your question. Give me a shout if you need more details.

Many thanks E.ON, At least I know the way E.ON works now, unlike my previous company who changed year by year. Thanks again.0

Hi andrewmp
Really sorry you received the letter saying your Direct Debit would be increased. This was a mistake which was recognised fairly early and corrected immediately.
A limited number of customers were affected and we have tried contacting them to explain and apologise. Contact has been attempted by phone, email or letter.
Again, sorry you were troubled in this way.

My average bill with my last company was £60 a month or £360 a year (gas and electricity). I changed to E ON and so far, since May i have been paying £90 a month. It has increase by £30 a month and this is over the summer period, god knows how much it is going to cost over the year. E on were meant to be cheaper. I can't understand it.
I am tied in until May 2010. I will be changing back. My previous company was Atlantic and they are obviously much cheaper.0 -

Surely if it's that much more expensive then you may as well switch back now and pay whatever the cancellation fee is.0 -

Yip, I meant £360 for each utility. SORRY0

Generally, credit builds up during the summer to cover higher winter bills.

Why not do it from when people want or after the summer ? You would still return to zero balance by the end of 12 months, only not in your favour.
For a new customer to start say now, in October, you would want an artificially high DD payment whereas I suggest you take 1/12th of the annual consumption.0 -

Now i wish we had changed our bills have gone up from £30 a month to £80 a month. my neighbour is still paying £30 a month on her bill. On top of that when we had our meter changed 4 years ago they made a huge mistake and our day and night units were the wrong way round. So we are just waiting for a huge bill for hundreds of pounds to drop through our door. we can not afford the £80 a month let alone hundreds of pounds on another bill so i think we can say that i would never recommend E.ON to anyone in fact i would warn people to stay away.
Hi moomin
Sorry for the delay replying. I have been out of the office since 1 October.
Also sorry to hear you have suffered from being billed the wrong way round for the past four years. Looks as though this has resulted in us undercharging you over this period.
There are a couple of things I would suggest depending on where your account currently stands.
Has the reading issue now been put right and your account re-billed to actual meter readings but the right way round?
This needs to be done first. Once done, it may be the Billing Code can be applied. This stops us from back billing for more than 12 months where we are at fault. Give us a call and ask if the code does apply.
Also, check the account is re-billed using all the meter readings we have. This will ensure you are charged at the prices current at the time the electricity was used rather than all at today's higher prices.
Once a final figure is settled on, ask for a payment arrangement to be set up. This will allow you to spread the amount back billed over a longer period, hopefully making the monthly payments a bit more manageable.
It maybe some of this has already been done. The higher Direct Debit might now be based on past usage but at the right prices. It could also include an amount to cover the underpayments; difficult to tell from your post.
Hope this helps a little. I think it important you talk to us about this as there maybe more that can be done. Give me a shout if I can help further.
