I havent heard anything since the PM on the 29th where they said they wanted to do this in private. I haven't sent them my details - frankly I'm amazed they cant work out who I am
This is not helping yourself. If you want to make a complaint there is no point in playing a game of 'guess who', and I'm fairly sure that if it eventually does end up with the FOS they will not look favourably upon that kind of vexatious behaviour. The insurer will have to handle the complaint in accordance with regulatory requirements - please take dacouch's advice.0 -
Just to keep everyone updated, I have not sent over my details to I Buy Eco so far as Im still awaiting a cheque from them
Ive given some considerable thought as to if I will persue this with them, as they requested, becasue the wont discuss it in public.
I think I will send them my details, once I have my cheque from them but I will post all corispondance to this forum. I think it will be useful for people to see what they come back with

With reference to the above post, its now the end of August and Im still awaiting my final cheque. I call them every two to three weeks and its such a co-incidence because when I call they *always* have it in their diary to chase up that very same day!
Last time I called, they said it shouldnt be more than two weeks
So, still waiting for the cheque, then we start to pursue the complaint and see what happens.
Hang on in there guys0 -
Lets face it a company that's main selling point is letting you offset you carbon emissions as it's main selling point (or jumping on the eco band wagon if you will ) just shouts rubbish to me.Nothing to see here, move along.0

Hang on in there guys
Stop being pig headed and write a letter with the title "Formal Complaint" to their complaints department now.
It will save you money in ringing them up and you will get your cheque much sooner.
If you had done this a couple of months ago you would have your cheque. You may not have your other issues resolved but least you complaints would be with the relevant regulators. (Companies have 8 weeks to deal with complaints.)
I suggest in your letter you list the number of times you have called them over months and give a price to cover the time taken to deal with them, and ask for the money. The FOS allow you to charge a maximum of £10 per hour.
I've had to write formal complaints to 2 car insurers. And it's amazing how quickly they respond once you:
1. send your letter by recorded delivery
2. you write the next step is the FOS and the FSA (in one case.)I'm not cynical I'm realistic

How can they work out who you are?, I work for a fairly large insurance company. If I recieved a call from a customer saying remember me? I was involved in a big accident and you increased my premium. 1) you probably never spoke to me because the company employs a fair few people. 2) i recieve a lot of calls. 3) we can only search for policies / claims with either the Name and Postcode, Policy / Claim number, or registration. and as far as i am aware this is the same with other insurance companies. So with out providing them with some form of id they won't have a clue who you are.0 -
Agreed ranger - this guy is being awkward just for the sake of it although not sure if post 54 means he has finally relented.
The likes of Tony Hetherington (MOS) and Diane Wright (Sunday Times Money section) frequently chastise complainants who do nothing to help themselves or their case.0 -
As my car is now 2 years 11 month old I took it for its first MOT - it failed on excessive tire wear on one of the rear wheels. They asked, has the car been in an accidnet?
"Yes it was" I replied
"basically the rear wheel is badly aligned, and has ruined your rear tire"
So its £180 for a new tire, and £249 for a "all wheel" realignment
I will endeavour to claim this back from the insurance company but judging by previous experience, Im not expecting much
PLEASE consider very carefully when you use bargin basement insurance companies like I Buy Eco0 -
I've bought 2 lots of insurance from ibuyeco. Why? Because they were the cheapest.
I've always been disappointed by any insurance company I've had to use in real life. The first one was Direct Line who at the time deliberately ran advertisements mentioning courtesy cars, and then when I claimed told me that those were for the other party. Since the other party was a deer they didn't need one.
I think there are only a few important facts here:
1) Insurance companies are businesses that will offer a low quote to "safe" people to get your custom
2) Once you look like a bad risk (e.g. recent claim even if not your "fault") they will raise the premiums - everyone should consider this before claiming, even if they have 20 years protected NCD.
3) Essentially you don't get anything from them except what you are due in terms of loss, so there's no point paying more than the minimum you have to.
4) We have to get at least 3rd Party insurance in this country, and cars are expensive items, so generally being uninsured is a mistake.
Hence why I almost always just buy the cheapest comprehensive cover available with a modest excess (£200).
If you don't like your insurance company - move, but it will most likely be to an equally bad one.0
