@ OP ... Was it reasonable for you to assume that there would be a reduction in the premium quoted to you for renewal - after the fault for the accident was attributed, and any loss of NCD reinstated - imho - yes.
And it still seems to me that a mistake may have been made - and perhaps that is why the supervisor allowed the cancellation charge to be waived.
But ...It appears that they no longer wanted you as a customer and priced themselves to encourage you to leave. Insurance companies often wont refuse business they dont really want but will price themselves really high to act a sort of passive blocker. If you then sign up with them they get more money for it but they dont care if you do or don't go with them.
I also want to support dunstonh's comment (as others have done) - there is no doubt that Insurers these days are picky over who and what they will insure, much more so than ever before, and often without any obvious or apparently rational reason - it shows up, often dramatically, in the use of comparison sites, I renewed recently with the highest quote at well over £600.00 - and the lowest at £85.00.
Why the difference if indeed they are measuring risk? Beyond me.If many little people, in many little places, do many little things,
they can change the face of the world.

Well, I “thought” I paid monthly premiums “just in case” I had a rainy day (ill health, unforeseen circumstances etc)
Its only when your rainy day comes, for whatever reason, that you find that this “peace of mind” insurance that was advised and sold is worthless.
Nonetheless the fact that “I” thought I was paying premiums (and ab2009 too) “just in case” this doesn’t mean you are wrong though, in fact on reflection you are 100% right.
Insurance is there to make money for its share holders, and yes it does that.
Only one minor point, you say “profits” and I say “greed”, but its only a word :rolleyes:Campaigning to recycle Insurance Policies into Toilet Paper :rotfl:

Its the mysterious power of complaints on MSE and their amazing power to appear very high on google http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&channel=s&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-GB%3Aofficial&hs=Z2V&q=ibuyeco+complaint&btnG=Search&meta=cr%3DcountryUK|countryGB Its amazing how quickly some companies respond to a complaint on MSE when they realise it comes high on google and could affect their business0

Exactly how many customers involved in a 7 car motorway pile-up just over 10 months ago, caused by a lorry , with an ongoing claim for personal injury that involves you tripling their premium to £1300, do you have on your books???0 -

I can sympathise a bit. It is quite rare, within an insurance company, for a single person to have all the info and see the big picture.
For example, the claims people will know how many claims they have but will not know the premiums since they do not concern them. The underwriters will know the premiums but not the claims.
Re the accident description, the insurers will just have it recorded as multiple vehicle collision - a precis of the actual circumstances.
So, not as easy to find without info as you might think and I suspect the number of multi-vehicle impacts with injury claims outstanding will run into the hundreds, if not thousands for any insurer.0 -
The only details we have for ab2009 is the MSE username (ab2009) - to enable us to investigate and help resolve any issues, we will need further information such as name, original policy number and contact details. We encourage the customer to send these details to the email account (feedback@ibuyeco.co.uk). This account is checked regularly, but to date, unfortunately there has been no contact from ab2009 (this is what was meant by our records).

If the company are that concerned about this (I get the impression they are, having registered here and sought permission to post) and they want to get this resolved, then their assertion that:As we are unable to see from the information you have posted any details that may help us identify you,
Anyway, whatever their motive, they are now at least making a half-hearted attempt to resolve the matter. Hopefully the OP will contact them and let us know what happens.0
