Nationwide Credit card is what I always use when abroad.. just take a little cash and then use the card for every purchase as there is no charge for the use... you might get one if you are quick and apply today.....#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

If you are going to the coast then a credit/debit card is probably OK (you will need to show them your passport too if you use it to buy anything).
Further inland very few people will take cards and wouldn't know what a traveller's cheque was. Here where I live in the Alpujarras it's cash only apart from the big supermarkets. Some friends of mine even had to pay cash for their new car!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Anyone? I wanna start getting holiday money together and want to know if they are any goodWork like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0

Be aware that you will be charged a withdrawal fee (of about £2.50) each time you get cash out of the whole in the wall. Have a look at this post as well for travel money: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=201733"An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0

Well from past experiance the withdrawl fee for where we are going is £1.50 but with these cards you dont pay a converstion rate. So its like the nationwide card but the oposite way round, with that you pay a cenversion fee but no withdrawl fee.
Will check the thread, thanksWork like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -
what about amex travelers cheque card. You were getting so much free if you loaded it with so much (I think)0

Thanks, will look into that. To be honest in the past I have always just took euros and put them in a safety deposit box but these seemed good because apparently they are safer than travellers cheques
