With regards to this dont be supprised if its sent back unrepaired and/or you get charged. The console isnt faulty, when they receive it (if they can check it), it will become apparent that your console hasnt recieved the 'ring of death'. Your Xbox isnt faulty its merely over heating, something that extremely common and has been happening since the original xbox's have hit UK stores. Leave it for a day or two and it will be fine, just use it in a well vented room or do the fan trick....

i think i replied to this point previously but just to add, it will have been out of use for at least 3 to 5 days by the time they look at it so if or rather when the two red lights appear after a short period of gaming then that should be reason enough for them to fix it.
i am of course presuming they do proper tests rather thna just doign something like turning it on and seeing if the lights appear immediately and fixing it if they do and sending it back unfixed if they dont appear straight away.

the latest by the way is ups collected it this morning. i am quite impressed by them, pretty efficient.

anyone who gets a problem with their console in the future might be interested to know that the service is very good. i reported mine late last sunday and got the electronic label the following day. i organised for it to be collected on tuesday last week. it arrived back today all repaired. they even gave it a clean. 1 month free gold membership was also included. so i am pretty pleased with the service from microsoft and ups.
by the way on the letter that came with it there are a list of potential faults that it may have had. the one that is ticked for mine is the motherboard.

it cost nothing, even though it was only two red lights they will have seen as i did that it wasnt just a case of letting it cool down. it was knackered.
