A quick question re;PPI

  • Hi,

I successfully recently claimed from Barclays for a closed MS credit card account. Initially I sar'd them that took about 3 letters before I finally got the information through. I must admit I was close to giving up butkept on at them. Once I got the info through I went after them as there was no agreement only statements and I claimed the fact that I was covered through work and am against the idea of PPI. They dragged their heels looking into it, including claiming at one stage it wasn't their account but after I pointed out they had sent me the statements they had to agree!
Anyway, a call or two got my case fast tracked after this error and a payment straight in to my bank of c£2.5k was received last week. Stick on at it, listen to the advice on here and don't be afraid to ask questions.

    Di,

I luv ya! (Don't tell Mrs thechippy though.....:D)

I've just knocked up the following to send as I do have the account number.
Thought it might be worth sending this first, as some have had payment fron this alone...

    Barclaycard

    Dear Sir or Madam,

    Re; Payment protection insurance

Account number: xxxxxxxxxxxxx (Formerly Morgan Stanley, but was taken over by Barclaycard)

    I purchased the above policy from you, but now believe that I was mis-sold this policy for the following reasons;

    1. having recently looked at the paperwork for my credit card, I now realise that I
have been paying for insurance that I did not know I had taken out, so could
not have been explained to me.

    2. I have never at any time requested or agreed to PPI on any loan or credit card
    used.

Unless you can satisfactorily justify to me that the policy was fair and reasonable I am requesting a full refund of all premiums, and subsequent interest on these
payments, that I have paid to date. As I believe I have been deprived of this money, I also expect 8% statutory interest, the amount a court would award, to be added to each payment made.

I look forward to a full and prompt response to this letter and for the matter to be concluded within eight weeks or I shall be contacting the Financial Ombudsman to investigate my complaint.

    Yours faithfully,

Could this speed things up, or just hinder?
If I get a poor response, I'll just send another letter asking for a copy of the cca and inform them I'm taking it to the FOS.

Sorry, just having a blonde moment again (No offence to any leggy blondes out there......;))

    Edit.

Or should I just request a copy of the cca and then send the above??
Happiness, is a Kebab called Doner.....:heart2::heart2:

Forgot to say, they may even provide you with the copy of your CCA with their response, but it you want to do this, remember to enclose a £1 postal order or cheque payment for this request and ask that they send by 12 days of them receiving this request.;)
