Earn upto £3,500 for 30 minutes work!!! 'Access to Learning Fund'

Just wanted to ask, I mentioned my daughter had a burglary at her student house and 3 out of 4 of the rooms were burgled. The girl in the room that was not burgled has asked for the crime number so she can claim access to learning even though her room wasnt touched and she lost nothing.
She may be trying to claim on her insurance too, but I'm pretty sure they will pick up on the false claim straight away but not sure about access to learning fund. Do you think we should inform the uni of this girls possible intentions? the person she asked the crime number from didnt give it to her but she may get it from one of the othersThanx

I only got notification that my student loan/grant was accepted today, I have 2 kids and so far have been awarded a maintenance grant, an adults dependants grant and a parents learning allowance. I wasn't awarded anything for childcare, even though I currently pay nearly £400 a month??
Should I apply for the ALF?? If so, how?
thanks everyone for your help!Official DFW Nerd 2100 -
Thanks very much for robhammond and others for all the advice here. I applied last firday and have just received an email to say i have been awarded 490!!!
After having to take out an egg loan at the end of last year having failed in my alf application then this is a massive help and is a huge weight off my mind.
Anyone who is in dire straits take the time to make a decent application and hopefully you will get the help you deserve!!0 -

I had the same thing at the beginning of the academic year. it's amazing how such a seemingly small amount of money (£520 in my case) can make such a huge difference. I'm just so glad when these funds go to people who genuinely need them. Nice one.0 -
Cheers snow angel, it is such a relief, now I can keep my computer and but my gf something for our anniversary! Glad to hear you also got some help, and good luck to everyone else who applies!0

Rachie what i found helpful was to put the section where you explain your difficulties on a seperate sheet so you can redo it as needed. I also included a 'key' to my bank statements explaining where pretty much everything was going (even though thy only asked for this in transactions over 50). Like robhammond has said make sure you put your emotional concerns and how it is causing you worry. Good luck!0 -
I live at home, I'm in my final year, and with a full loan, so I have applied for this ALF.
I've handed my form back in, but I also need to provide an LEA disability assessment document, which I got when I started Uni. How will this affect my application?
I hope it works out!Cake please...0 -
I didn't even get an application form, I'm not eligible
I'm part time studying 75% of a full time course, I work 30 hours a week, I get the full LEA help and course grant but I don't qualify because I earn £588 pcm. Even though my outgoings are £540 just with rent and bills and loans and pension... My Student union suggested I write to all my creditors to ask can I reduce my payments but I dread to think of the effect on my credit score so I'm putting it off

I applied in desperation when my overdraft caught up with me - although it was only small - several hundred pounds - I explained that my costs in the final semester of a three year degree were going to be high, ie, interview travel, dissertation research costs, silly things that add up, like the number of functions I am expected to attend with OH being in army, really detailed explanation ... and I was given £290, not even covering my overdraft.
But a friend who I knew had spent massively on an extravagent watch and outdoor equipment received £600.
It doesn't seem very fair, yet it's better than a poke in the eye!0
