i just have a couple of questions to see what people think..
I've had a look at this and think i may be able to get some funding but..
they've asked for bank account details of 3 months
1) If i dont get paper statements/have lost them can i print them off online?
2)Do i need to provide all my bank accounts?
2b)If i do provide all my bank accounts they'll see a lot of funds going into gambling sites because of matched betting, will they not look badly on this? and if so if i dont provide details of this account, will they know?
thanks

Yes, you need to show 3 months from your main accounts, one month of any cards, and indicate what any spends over £100 are for.
As for gambling... well... You'll have to try your luck. I'm guessing it could be argued that it goes hand in hand with being desperate. I guess it depends how much you spend on them.
If you chose not to disclose, and they find out, they can press charges for obtaining funds by deception and fraud...April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200 -
Thank you for response, it really is appreciated.
what do you mean 3 months for main accounts and one month for cards?
With the whole gambling thing i may just wait 3 months and stop all gambling payments etc then in 3 months time my statements should be completely clean..
do you think i have a good chance of getting a decent payout in april?
and also if i do get a payout in april how long does if cover..? do i need to apply again in september?
thanks for your help0 -

It depends on the uni, but some might certainly have questions if there are large amounts going in and out of your account.
No-one can say if you have a chance of getting a good payout - it does depend on your circumstances, and how much is left in the fund and how your uni interpret the guidance.
The award is usually to cover an academic year, so you can apply again in September."Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee."0 -

3 months of statements for current accounts, and one month of statements for each credit card you may have...
AS crispy states - September is a new academic year and you can reapply...April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200 -

thanks,
yes i agree no one can say if i have a good chance as it depends on what uni im at, and my circumstances etc.
but would you recommend
a) Apply now with matched betting amounts going in and out of my account.. and then again in september
or
b) apply in april stop all payments to gambling companies, and then possibly have a better chance of getting a payment.. albeit probably a smaller amount then if i had applied 3 months earlier..then again in september?
thanks again0 -
One more thing if someone doesnt mind advising...
as part of the house that i live in, we have a house bank account that we pay all utilities etc with and which therefore has a lot of money in it.
Although this is not my money the account is in my name.. do you think this will be a problem and do you think the committee deciding will think this is my own money and therefore give me less/no money?0 -

You can put a covering letter with the form and explain the sums in your bank account. As for the matched betting stuff - I can't say what is the best thing to do. But if you have large sums going in and out, be prepared to have to justify them."Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Daughter had no insurance for her student accom and they have had a smash in not a break in. She has lost everything, laptop, external hardrive, dig camera, web cam, tomtom one and lots of other things. Shes lost all her work and has loads of reflections and assignments to do (student nurse) shes worried sick she backed stuff up on the external hardrive but thats gone too.
Would they give her any help through access to learning even though she didnt have insurance? she couldnt afford it. She claimed last year in feb and then in july as she had extra expenses due to a placement all over the summer but I wondered if she could claim under exceptional circumstances for this?Thanx

I very much doubt it. They will probably ask how she could afford expensive electrical items but not be able to afford insurance. The fund is to help students whose access to higher education might be limited i.e. because they are from a non-traditional background or because they have caring responsbilities etc.
She may as well put an application in, they might give her something, but I wouldn't expect the fund to pay to replace these items.
It is also worth her making sure that the university know about the break in so that they can take it into account if she has deadlines coming up etc."Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret.
