Looking for a newer car - does this look a good buy?

I spent a while looking at Estates recently and the Mondeo provided the most car for the money.Happy chappy0

I do apologies people. Are you saying that if somebody else opens another topic/post that i cannot tell them about my good experience?
I wouldn't recommend it ..
It's pretty much all you have said in all of your posts so far. Whether you are spamming or not, think it would be wise not to 'advertise' any more.
Besides, think we have by now all got the message of your great experience.Genie

Competitively priced I would imagine.
I'm concerned about the 'back problem' - I've got a bit of a dodgy back which is why I drive auto - in case it plays up. Can't say my Focus seats are the best tho, if I am honest. Just from personal experience, I know that the Avensis has great seats and support, but can't comment other makes. I know lots of cars are comfortable - but they may not give the support that is needed.
Land Cruisers are pretty good on the back..... bit pricey tho...

I also get a lot of back pain so wanted good lumbar support and an "L" shaped seat that did not dip at the rear and make ones knees go up! I can thoroughly recommend the Renault Laguna having done a 240 mile trip in a hired one last year.
Well, we went back to the Kia dealership today, armed with all the on-line quotes I had got, and having decided that I didn't actually want the special edition as it has too little "extra" on it to make it worth the added £500! I had also decided that I wanted to test drive the GS model rather than the LS model which the special edition is based on. The only difference is that the GS has a "low power output" 16 CDi engine and LS is a "high power output" and a very slight trim difference. I do know that the power:weight ratio would probably be better on the LS, but since I am a pretty sedate driver I think my fuel consumption should remain good with the lower power output. It was hard to tell the difference tbh, the car still seemed to want to get away from me around the town, and on the dual carriageway it just flew! I still had to be careful to touch the accelerator VERY gently.
So, I had also decided that maybe (in order to save a few bob) I should have the hatch (£35 a year insurance as well - goes up to £120 on the estated) instead of the estate because the boot was still bigger than the one on the ZX! But.....................I was really naughty and when we had finished haggling the prices down to beat the best of my on-line quotes there was a mere £700 in it and I could actually have the colour I wanted in the Estate but not the hatch without waiting months for one to come into the Country:o.
So I did it:o. I went totally crazy and bought the car I actually wanted and to hang with being too sensible:D.
The best I had been able to achieve on the special edition with metallic on line was £14,206 with a further £1K off for scrappage. However, I got the GS model for £11,800 (list + metallic option is £14,670) so I was pretty happy, although I am sure someone will come along and tell me that I could have done better:D.
Hands were shaking like fury signing the cheque though:rotfl:and I had such a hot flush I thought I would melt:D
Final reasons for choosing this:
1) DS1 threatened to leave home if I bought a Skoda! Claims he would be laughed out of school:rotfl:
2) But, seriously, there was little difference between the cost of the Fabia and the FAR nicer Ceed and I just decided that I wanted to buy the car I WANTED rather than be sensible! I haven't had a brand new car since my Citroen GS (which I bought with 17% staff discount in those days) and I was so sensible then that I bought the red one which had actually been registered by Citroen UK and had 300 miles on the clock instead of the brand new blue one I wanted because I saved £500 doing so (and remember that back nearly 30 years ago £500 was quite a lot of money).
3) I don't have to have servicing done by Kia dealer during warranty, as long as genuine Kia parts are used btw, so that is a help as they are quite a way away.
4) Plus, I loved it! It drives well, there are not loads of others on the road in my area (although there were quite a few in Kidwelly where the dealer is which speaks well for them), it looks pretty special and it was big enough to take a whole family with my leggy lads not having to have their knees around their ears in the back and still LOADS of space in the boot:D.
Will let you know for sure about the seats in the Ceed - but they certainly felt VERY comfortable on the test drives (quite long ones) and they have masses of adjustments that I haven't even messed with yet.
Now.......cross your fingers that I don't get the car made on a hungover Monday morning or a hot and sweaty, late Friday afternoon;):rotfl:
Feel quite light-headed and nauseous at spending that amount of money though:o Haven't stopped shaking since:o."there are some persons in this World who, unable to give better proof of being wise, take a strange delight in showing what they think they have sagaciously read in mankind by uncharitable suspicions of them"(Herman Melville)0 -

Re 3) - it may change next year as block exemption is running out - go to website www.r2rc.co.uk and sign the petition - if you want to! Think I have the website correct - there is also www.r2rc.eu I believe. Same thing, but think the petition is on the uk one.Genie

Thanks Jeannie, I signed that once before when you put it up on a thread, but I shall just have to deal with that when I come to it, after all it would be the same with any car (as indeed it was when I worked for Citroen) that I bought brand new or within warranty.
Have not stopped shaking all evening, and feel quite terrified of what I did in just going with the impulse and spending all that dosh: but it will be nice to have a car that does not belong to the "banger" section for once.
Did consider the two or three year old cars, and had a look at quite a few in the last few days, but tbh, the savings just didn't seem big enough to put me off owning that "new smell" for once:o"there are some persons in this World who, unable to give better proof of being wise, take a strange delight in showing what they think they have sagaciously read in mankind by uncharitable suspicions of them"(Herman Melville)0 -
